Lord knows why anyone would call their daughter Chastity. It's a horrid thing to do to a child.

ShadowSpiral · 27/02/2015 18:21

I don't like Virginia or Chastity as girls names for the same reason I don't like Maiden as a girl's name.

But I had no idea Corinne was associated with virginity.

NickiFury · 27/02/2015 18:24

Madchen, means girl in German. With umlauts above the a but I don't know how to do them.

calzone · 27/02/2015 18:28

Truly awful.

Would you want to be called Maiden? I would not.

Or Saylor ((terrible spelling of it too))

flanjabelle · 27/02/2015 18:31

Nope. Sounds like a boat.

Pipbin · 27/02/2015 18:36

Rose is lovely. What about Billy after the goats that trip-trap?

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 27/02/2015 18:41

As RudefromBude said, I'm wondering if the OP is either not in the UK or hasn't been here long and doesn't realise that Maiden isn't normally used as a name.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 27/02/2015 18:49

Is it even a name. Just looked it up on a site behind the name and no results came up.
Don't like sorry. It makes me think of a something you hang your clothes on.
Love Saylor though, very pretty

SoupDragon · 27/02/2015 18:52

.

Pipbin · 27/02/2015 18:53

Is it even a name
But any old bollocks can be a name if enough people decide it is. Sky and Storm weren't names 30 years ago. (I actually think they are nice names).
I know a child who has a regular word as a name. And a lot of African countries use words like Precious or Goodluck as names.

maggiethemagpie · 27/02/2015 19:03

Dear god, please don't call your child Maiden Rose.
At least it's not Maiden Chelsea.

MsQueenie22 · 27/02/2015 22:50

I don't think that the world is ready for Maiden, how about Madeleine Rose?

JakeyBurd · 27/02/2015 23:35

But I had no idea Corinne was associated with virginity

It's from the Greek for "maiden" so I guess it has the same connotations as the name we're discussing now...

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 27/02/2015 23:47

Awww, that tickled me Grin

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 27/02/2015 23:49

What about Malden? Like New Malden.

flanjabelle · 28/02/2015 06:46

How about Maiden China... Its got a lovely ring to it... Grin

Arsenic · 28/02/2015 06:52

What does Shyanne name is Sky mean? Confused

Cadence might have better associations and it vaguely rhymes with Maiden (?)

D0nnaO · 28/02/2015 07:34

personally I don't like it as it reminds me of a boat, but each to their own.

As long as you & your OH like it, it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks. They'll probably be a few raised eyebrows about the names that me & DH have picked but it's not going to stop me from naming OUR baby it Smile

climbing · 28/02/2015 07:35

Those names are so awful, and so designed to get MN spitting that I don't believe you.

Sorry.

CPtart · 28/02/2015 07:44

Maiden is dreadful, laughable, and if you're trying to be a bit different or edgy then Rose is one of the most common and slightly dull middle names around at the moment.

VixxFace · 28/02/2015 08:05

someone suggested hebe!! That is almost as bad as maiden.

CrispyFern · 28/02/2015 09:15

What about changing a letter or two so it isn't a word, if you like the sound.

Like, um, Maisel? Maiben? Maiche?

stripedtortoise · 28/02/2015 13:05

Awful.

And saying that 'it doesn't matter as long as YOU like it' is a silly argument imo. Your child lives with the name every day, not you.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 28/02/2015 13:12

Hebe would be an excellent name if your surname was Jeebie.

No sign of the OP, I see. Hmm

countessmarkyabitch · 28/02/2015 14:55

Sky(e) certainly was a name 30 years ago!
