Shocking. Really one of the worst ideas I've seen on here. Don't get me started on Saylor (!) and Shyanne (Cheyenne, but still, no).
Is OP in the US perhaps?

TheCowThatLaughs · 27/02/2015 09:43

bollocks

thoth · 27/02/2015 09:48

Also could go with Virginia but I don't think she'd have an easy time at school.
What about Arielle/Ariella?
Stella
Delta

GiantGaspingSatanicCyst · 27/02/2015 09:51

Maiden Rose definitely has a clitoral feel about it, sorry OP. How about Madchen, like Madchen Amick? Sounds the same but doesn't make one think of virgin boats.

thoth · 27/02/2015 09:52

Nicki- he cringes now when I remind him nine years on Grin

pressone · 27/02/2015 09:54

For me Maiden = Maiden Aunt, probably the least edgy thing on the planet

ImpatiencePersonified · 27/02/2015 09:59

Ahhh good, pleased to see some have gone with the scathing, rude or pretty hurtful responses again on MN rather than constructive and supportive approach we all come here for.

Seriously, asking for an opinion doesn't give you a free pass to be this awful ladies....You can be honest without being an asshole.

Bohemond · 27/02/2015 10:09

You hang clothes on a maiden

RudefromBude · 27/02/2015 10:13

Maiden is really pretty.

You're not in the UK are you?

ZacharyQuack · 27/02/2015 10:15

It reminds me of the flashback scenes in Friends to when Monica was young and she talked about giving a boy her "flower", i.e. her virginity.

Perhaps her flower was a maiden rose?

countessmarkyabitch · 27/02/2015 10:15

Pretty hurtful? Its a possible baby name, get a grip of yourself. If thats hurtful, you're way over-sensitive.
The whole point of this topic is to stop people making terrible mistakes by anticipating what people would say after the fact, when it would be too late. Especially for the poor child lumbered with an awful monniker like Maiden Rose. That child should be thanking us all in advance!

Sophronia · 27/02/2015 10:21

How about Maida instead? Maida Rose is quite pretty.

Sophronia · 27/02/2015 10:22

Actually, scratch that - just realised it sounds like 'made a rose'!

ShadowSpiral · 27/02/2015 10:24

Maiden is an old fashioned word for a virgin. I don't think it works as a girl's name at all, and it's the complete opposite of edgy. Rose is lovely though.

And I've never even heard of anyone called Saylor. Did you perhaps mean Taylor? Although I wouldn't call that popular either.

countessmarkyabitch · 27/02/2015 10:24

Maida Vale?

Behooven · 27/02/2015 10:26

Hey

Horrible, as is Saylor

nochocolateforlentteacake · 27/02/2015 10:30

What's wrong with actual 'people names'?

AndWhenYouGetThere · 27/02/2015 10:30

Madeline? Similar sound, and works really well with Rose.

Bluepants · 27/02/2015 10:39

Maiden is odd. Connotations of virgin etc. Very uncomfortable name for a teenager to live with.

What about Hebe, Eden, Peyton, Athena or Astrid.

bouncingbelle · 27/02/2015 14:30

Just makes me think of a boat or made in Taiwan, (or elsewhere)

Taylor instead of saylor?

Cheyenne is pretty too.

ApocalypseThen · 27/02/2015 15:39

They're all names that make you think "poor child".

Leeds2 · 27/02/2015 15:40

We always used to call a clothes horse a maiden.

JakeyBurd · 27/02/2015 17:32

Hmm, so Maiden is too reminiscent of virginity, yet Virginia, Corinne and Chastity etc. are presumably OK? Perhaps OP had the German Mädchen in mind and though it could work in English too.

I think it's an acceptable name and the meaning doesn't bother me; the only problem I have is that it's too close to all the Jaydon-Haydn-Braidon-Caiden-type names we're only just moving on from.

OP, if you like May for short then why not just go for that?

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 27/02/2015 17:46

I don't think Virginia, Chastity etc are ok either to be honest.

AmysTiara · 27/02/2015 17:49

how about Madchen like the actress Madchen Amick? Isn't her name Maiden in German?

Am probably totally wrong but hey ho Smile
