Clemen-teen or Clemen-tyne?

I think it looks lovely written down but I only really like the 'teen' pronunciation....

Clemen-Tyne (like the little orange fruit).

twinjocks · 11/01/2015 21:31

Clemen-tyne, but I have heard both (I think!).

Clemen-Tyne.

I love it so much, but no way I could ever get DP on board

Tyne.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 11/01/2015 21:32

Tyne

bozo14 · 11/01/2015 21:33

Tyne

iklboo · 11/01/2015 21:34

Tyne. Like the songs.

CaptainAnkles · 11/01/2015 21:34

Teen for the name, tyne for the fruit.

Rhubarbgarden · 11/01/2015 21:35

The one I know pronounces it Tyne.

wizzler · 11/01/2015 21:35

Tyne... like the fruit and the song ( oh my darling.....)

Jojay · 11/01/2015 21:35

Tyne.

Like the song,

'Oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling Clementine,'

Or is it only me who knows that song?

PuppyMonkey · 11/01/2015 21:35

Oh my darlin'
Oh my darlin'
Oh my darlin
Clemen TYNE

According to Huckleberry Hound.

WerewolfBarMitzvah · 11/01/2015 21:35

Teen

Fayrazzled · 11/01/2015 21:36

Teen here. Which is how I'd pronounce the fruit too.

Jojay · 11/01/2015 21:36

X post - not just me then!

RustyBear · 11/01/2015 21:36

Has to be Tyne for the name because in the song it rhymes with mine, nine, fine, pine and entwine...

Cherrypippin · 11/01/2015 21:37

We pronounce it teen for dd.

Fayrazzled · 11/01/2015 21:38

I think Tyne is the American pronunciation; whereas teen is the traditional English pronunciation following the french.

LemonBreeland · 11/01/2015 21:38

Tyne, and I love the name. DH vetoed it for our dd

meerschweinchen · 11/01/2015 21:39

I would have said teen. But then until reading this thread I thought the fruit was pronounced like that too Blush

HicDraconis · 11/01/2015 21:40

I pronounce the name and the fruit with the "teen" ending. The song I sing with the "tyne" ending. Nothing like being consistent!

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/01/2015 21:43

I know two - one pronounced "tyne" and one "teen", so I think it is up to you!

Ditto Sopheea and SophEYEa.

iklboo · 11/01/2015 21:44

AND the Mark Owen song!

Clemen-ty-eye-eye-eye-eye-eye-eyne
It was never meant to be this way

Ktay · 11/01/2015 21:47

Dd2's middle name is teen
