Clemen-teen or Clemen-tyne?

I think it looks lovely written down but I only really like the 'teen' pronunciation....

Clem-on-teen, instinctively, I'm aware that there are different pronunciations though so would probably ask. I sing Clementyne, though.

IsadoraQuagmire · 12/01/2015 12:39

Tyne!

weeblueberry · 12/01/2015 14:27

Would be tyne for me. I would think that's more common too so she might (erroneously if you pick teen) get that for most of her life...

tammytoby · 12/01/2015 14:56

I'd say Clementine. I'd also pronounce the fruit that way. Lovely name!

bigbluebump · 12/01/2015 15:39

Clement-een like Christine or Delphine. Also call the fruit this.

Clemen-tyne sounds very American to my ears.

squoosh · 12/01/2015 16:12

Teen.

ouryve · 12/01/2015 16:13

As a name, to rhyme with mine.

Poppytoffee · 12/01/2015 16:37

Tyne Smile

ghostspirit · 12/01/2015 16:41

thats my cousins name we say it cleme-tyne

but its been shortend to cleme

TotleighTowers · 12/01/2015 16:53

What about Clemency? I think that's beautiful too and no pronunciation issues.

DramaAlpaca · 12/01/2015 21:24

Teen.

I absolutely love it.

LilyLilyLilyOiOiOi · 15/01/2015 15:04

We say TYNE for our daughters middle name. She's Pippa Clementine

DurhamDurham · 15/01/2015 15:05

I'd say Tyne, being in the North East it's to be expected Grin

Bonsoir · 15/01/2015 15:05

I love this name and would pronounce it ClemenTYNE

Sophronia · 15/01/2015 20:17

Tyne for me.

How about Clemence?

cowbiscuits · 15/01/2015 20:44

Lovely. Makes me think of "The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". Which is one of my favourite films, although the character isn't particularly likeable.

I think I'd say "Clemen-teen"

carbolicsoaprocked · 15/01/2015 20:50

Teen

MargeryDaw · 16/01/2015 19:32

Tyne = American English pronunciation
Teen = British English pronunciation.

Teen is much prettier I think

AmysTiara · 16/01/2015 19:36

Tyne. I'm surprised so many people are saying teen. I've never heard it called that way before.

OatcakeCravings · 16/01/2015 19:38

Tyne

SauvignonBlank · 16/01/2015 19:47

Tyne. The only one I know is aka Clemmie, and behind her back, ClammieGrin

Blueberrybaby · 17/01/2015 09:05

I say Tyne. I've met a baby Clementine before and forgot her mother used the 'teen' pronunciation. A few times I've bumped into her and said hello to Clementyne only to be corrected (which is fine but I'm not sure I could be arsed!)

reuset · 17/01/2015 16:52

If you're using 'teen' then you need to go the whole hog and pronounce it clem- on -teen, like my French grandmother does. Otherwise you can sound like a twit.
I know one person with a three or four year old Clementine who pronounces it clem- en -teen, in a broad northern accent, and it sounds awful.

reuset · 17/01/2015 16:54

How then do you pronounce Caroline, bigblue? Using that logic Wink Do you also pronounce the European way.

reuset · 17/01/2015 16:58

I'm surprised so many people are saying teen. I've never heard it called that way before.

I have, just not in the UK. That bit does surprise me, I agree. And then, with my European relations, it is clem on teen, not clem en teen
