DH and I are expecting twins (boy and girl) and we really like slightly out-there hippy surfy names! Any suggestions?

My daughter's currently reading a book with 5 kids in called:
Wisdom
Virtue
Peace
Bowie
Pixie

It also has 2 surfer dudes in but one is called Sam. The other is Quinn.

These come from a website saying they are names 'inspired by the ocean':
Girls:
Abalone, Blue, Cerulean, Coral, Hydra, Isla, Ling, Mahi, Marina, Molly, Marsha, Orca, Salamanda (!!), Shelly, Sandy, Star

Boys:
Cruise, Dorado, Dune, Finn, Gar, Jetty, Keel, Krill, Mako, Marlin, Pike, Ray, Rip, Tad, Tide, Zander

I have a (female) friend called Mala - it means 'well being' so kind of hippy.

I have surfy friends who called their daughter Airlie after Airlie Beach (they are Aussies)

Unique, surfy, hippy names please!!

CheeseBuster · 16/12/2014 11:56

I think these type of names are kind of lame unless you are a surfy hippy couple and the fact you're on MN sort of screams otherwise. They're all trying so very hard to be different.

LetticeKnollys · 16/12/2014 11:57

Another vote for Seacucumber.

I came to suggest Skye but it's been said.

SuburbanReindeer · 16/12/2014 12:35

A bit philosophical for this thread, perhaps, but going back to the OP, surely if a name is "unique", it's not really a name?

And if it is a name, surely that means any word can be a name? In which case seacucmber and mollusc are as valid as any others.

Though I prefer Cq-cumber myself Wink

Alpacacino · 16/12/2014 12:38
