Care to share? Grin

And also, did you tell people beforehand or is it best to just announce once they're here?

We've decided to call DD1 (due in February) Ariadne. There were 23 Ariadnes in 2013, so I'd class it as uncommon/rare.

I love it, as does DP. Even my very traditional Mother thinks it's beautiful. I'm sure there'll be some who think it's pretentious, but we love it too much not to use it.

My DD1 has a name usually used for boys. In her birth year there were 120 boys and 60 girls

DD2's name: 8 in her birth year. I have only ever met one other. It's so rare I can't say as it would out me, but it does crop up on these boards occasionally and usually gets a "poor child" and "bully bait" response. It's mediaeval and regional.

Meant to say, announced once she'd arrived in both cases.

Doesn't stop people saying "that's very .... unusual" in a sneering tone though.

I met a boy called Iago (Iggy for short) a while ago.

Just made me think of Jafar's parrot out of Aladdin.

My username is my actual name. I can't say I enjoy introducing myself to people or giving my name to the Starbucks barista - but other than that it's great, as people remember me and that's stood me in really good stead when networking, etc. I wouldn't go for quite such an unusual name myself - we are planning on slightly unusual Gaelic names for our children (husband is from Highlands) but easy to pronounce and not that alien for my family!

day which bit of your username?

dayspringjubilee · 05/12/2014 11:37

burgatroyd all of it! First name Dayspring, middle name Jubilee. I've come to like my first name but still not keen on the middle name.
