Please help me decide on dd3's name...she is 9 days old!

Hi

Dd3 was born on 1st Aug and she is still nameless. It's getting to the point now where it's starting to stress me out, especially when i have people calling daily to see if she has a name yet!

Dd1 is Libby, dd2 is Poppy.

My short list was Tess, Gabriella and Sophia. Middle name is going to be Ivy (grandmother's name).

I don't mind the nn Gabby, but can't stand Gab or Gabs which it will likely get shortened to by some people, which i suppose rules Gabriella out. I am also aware if the popularity of Sophia but do not know any with that name where i live or in dd's nursery/school, so i am still seriously considering it. Everyone pulls their face at Tess, which i know i shouldn't let influence me but it is doing.

I also love Pearl but surname begins with L so it just doesn't flow right, it sounds like she is called Pear when you say the full name.

My mum is pushing me to call dd Ivy, but i just can't see her as an Ivy.

I am very indecisive with names, it took me over a week to chose dd1's and 3 weeks to chose for dd2!!

I like Tabitha, Florence and Alice too.

I am scouring baby name websites whilst dd is feeding throughout the night and am now dreaming of them, it's driving me crazy.

I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions of other names i might like. I am setting myself a deadline of 2 days to decide!

Thanks

All your names are lovely! including yoyr two eldest.

Of all the names you suggest, Alice is my favourite. The only other name I can think that goes with your two girls is Megan.

thatsn0tmyname · 10/08/2014 19:34

Tessa is lovely

Wishfulmakeupping · 10/08/2014 19:34

I like Tess or Alive with your other dd names i would avoid another name ending in a Y for a first name but Ivy is nice for a middle name. Shame about Pearl its a fab name I know one and she's a sweetie.
Congrats!

Wishfulmakeupping · 10/08/2014 19:34

Alice that should be

Finola1step · 10/08/2014 19:35

Alice is lovely.

But... Ivy as the first name gets my vote. Maybe Ivy Sophia.

KiaOraOAotearoa · 10/08/2014 19:36

Tessa? (I know a beautiful, kind, gentle Tessa that eveyone adores. She's also got a brilliant razor sharp mind).
Zara?
Ruby?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2014 19:36

Tess is nice and so is Alice, but neither of them work v well with Ivy.
My first thought was Daisy, but that doesn't go with Ivy either.
Florence works well.

Libby, Poppy and Gwendolyn Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Marianne Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Hermione Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Melissa Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Susannah Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Jessica Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Hester Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Louisa Ivy

MinutesOfMeetings · 10/08/2014 19:37

All your names are nice but I would avoid Gabby as its top same-y with Libby and Poppy. In fact I'd avoid anything ending with "ee" including Ivy. I love Alice and Tabitha

SomeSunnySunday · 10/08/2014 19:38

Tess is lovely. We had considered Esther with Tess as a shortening, if you wanted options for a longer name for the BC (although I could never decide if Tess short for Esther was stretching it a bit, and honestly I think Tess is fine alone).

EverythingCounts · 10/08/2014 19:39

Tess is lovely. Ignore the faces! Put another middle name between it and Ivy and you're sorted.

wigglesrock · 10/08/2014 19:39

Your original list of 3 is lovely, I know I'm not much help Smile. I have a Sofia, she's 9 now and it really is lovely. I only know one other and I have younger daughters. I also really like Tess, but when I mentioned it for dd3, people were a bit meh about it and my husband dislikes it.

With regards to popularity, you've got to take your chances. I know of two lots of children who were given less popular names but ended up in the same class in school.

What name do you love the most?

LondonRocks · 10/08/2014 19:39

Flora?
Georgia?
Juliet?

Bowlersarm · 10/08/2014 19:40

I think Libby and Poppy need a sister called Flora or Marnie or Iona..

If their mum doesn't agree I think Tess/a is lovely. Or Stella. Or what about Gabriella nn Ella? I think Gabby might well become Gabs-it would in our circle.

I don't think you should use ivy or pearl, just not as pretty as the other two dds.

Northernlurker · 10/08/2014 19:40

Well if she's not an Ivy then she isn't and that's all there is to it.

Hmmm

She's not a Caroline is she? I think that's much underused. Carrie sounds nice with your other girls for short.

Caroline Ivy L...

Susannah Ivy

Lucinda Ivy? Too many Ls?

Margot Ivy?

AnotherStitchInTime · 10/08/2014 19:42

Jessica?

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 10/08/2014 19:45

Erin?

olaflikeswarmhugs · 10/08/2014 19:46

With your older two DDs I really think Ivy goes beautiful with those I think you should give her that as her first name .

hollie84 · 10/08/2014 19:47

I like Alice Ivy and think it really goes with Libby and Poppy.

burgatroyd · 10/08/2014 19:48

Blossom, Georgina, Nancy, Orla

Viviennemary · 10/08/2014 19:49

I think Ivy as a first namewould be nice. But you're not keen. I also like Pearl but you say it doesn't go. Violet is nice too.

Yama · 10/08/2014 19:51

What about Christina?

SnapeAndLily · 10/08/2014 19:51

Love Tess, love Florence.

Like the suggestion of Violet too.

LottieJenkins · 10/08/2014 19:53

Dulcie?

RabbitSaysWoof · 10/08/2014 19:55

Tess is lovely I would choose it.
Also Libby, Poppy and Rae....?

ChallyCreaks · 10/08/2014 20:00

Florence but shortened to Flossie? Or Annie or Daisy? Congratulations and good luck with your final decision.
