Please help me decide on dd3's name...she is 9 days old!

Hi

Dd3 was born on 1st Aug and she is still nameless. It's getting to the point now where it's starting to stress me out, especially when i have people calling daily to see if she has a name yet!

Dd1 is Libby, dd2 is Poppy.

My short list was Tess, Gabriella and Sophia. Middle name is going to be Ivy (grandmother's name).

I don't mind the nn Gabby, but can't stand Gab or Gabs which it will likely get shortened to by some people, which i suppose rules Gabriella out. I am also aware if the popularity of Sophia but do not know any with that name where i live or in dd's nursery/school, so i am still seriously considering it. Everyone pulls their face at Tess, which i know i shouldn't let influence me but it is doing.

I also love Pearl but surname begins with L so it just doesn't flow right, it sounds like she is called Pear when you say the full name.

My mum is pushing me to call dd Ivy, but i just can't see her as an Ivy.

I am very indecisive with names, it took me over a week to chose dd1's and 3 weeks to chose for dd2!!

I like Tabitha, Florence and Alice too.

I am scouring baby name websites whilst dd is feeding throughout the night and am now dreaming of them, it's driving me crazy.

I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions of other names i might like. I am setting myself a deadline of 2 days to decide!

Thanks

I like Ivy Sophia Smile

Don't like Gabby and tess is a bit meh too.

Love your other dd's names.

LottieJenkins · 10/08/2014 20:12

I forgot i liked Annie too! I have been watching Life On Mars which has make me like it all the more! I also like Hepzibah!

Lunastarfish · 10/08/2014 20:17

I like Tess, you should go for it.

But what about - Jessica Ivy?

PlacidApricots · 10/08/2014 20:18

Amelia Ivy?

meeps · 10/08/2014 20:19

the 1st August birthday girl I know is called Robin.. how about Jess instead of Tess? you've got some lovely names in your list.

FengMa · 10/08/2014 20:19

I mused several of those names. Had DS been a girl, we would have had Ivy or Aurora. Love Tess/a too.

What about Estelle/Estella?

BiggerYellowTaxi · 10/08/2014 20:21

I vote for Alice Ivy. I would avoid a third name ending with the -ee sound but that's just me. All the names on your list are lovely though.

BiggerYellowTaxi · 10/08/2014 20:22

Feng I love Aurora!

ThisFenceIsComfy · 10/08/2014 20:22

Tess/Tessa is lovely!

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclinatio · 10/08/2014 20:23

I think, for me, something yy would be good otherwise it feels like she is the 'odd one' Libby, Poppy and Tess. It's like they're a team and she's a 'tag along'. I like Daisy. Libby, Poppy & Daisy. A trio :)

Deluge · 10/08/2014 20:26

Tess is lovely.

BigfootFiles · 10/08/2014 20:38

Tess/Tessa is perfectly fine. Tell people it as a done-deal and not as asking their opinion and they won't pull faces.

That said, you did ask. :) The only thing that would put me off Tess is the likelihood of nickname Tess Tickle. Ivy is a bit too freshly used by Beyonce, imo, and I know too many cats called Tabitha which would put me off that.

Florence or Alice is okay. What about Daniella, if you like Gabriella but don't want Gabs? Natasha, nickname Tasha, bit like Tessa?

It's a difficult one! All nice choices - I do like Ivy as first name but it does sound a bit Christmassy for a summer baby! Alice is lovely and great with your other daughters names but maybe doesn't flow so well with Ivy. Maybe:

Libby, Poppy and Florence Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Summer Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Zoe Ivy
Libby Poppy and Megan Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Lucy/Lucinda Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Freya Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Scarlett Ivy
Libby, Poppy and Rosa Ivy (Rosie)

HaroldLloyd · 10/08/2014 20:58

My vote goes to Tessa.

BlackberryandNettle · 10/08/2014 20:58

Let us know what you go for!!

Innocentbystander01 · 10/08/2014 21:03

I have a poppy, Alice and gaby.

Alice Ivy sounds really nice.

HippieInASecondLocation · 10/08/2014 21:06

Really like Tess or Tessa, and love the suggestion of Esther with Tess as a nn.

TeaAndALemonTart · 10/08/2014 21:10

Libby, Poppy and Seraphina.

Libby, Poppy and Penny.

Libby, Poppy and Sadie.

Doilooklikeatourist · 10/08/2014 21:15

Joanna Ivy
Marianne Ivy
Theresa ( Tess ) Ivy
Clarissa ( Lissy ) Ivy

Doilooklikeatourist · 10/08/2014 21:17

Oops . Not Lissy , too much like Libby , Clarissa NN Lissa

annoyedofnorwich · 10/08/2014 21:25

I vote Florence.

MsCoconut · 10/08/2014 21:26

All your names are pretty. Tessa Ivy and Tabitha Ivy (Tabby?) stand out in particular.

(I also like Ivy Sophia but if you are not feeling it then it's not to be.)

wigglylines · 10/08/2014 21:58

Have you tested any of the names, by calling her them for a while and seeing if they feel right? We didn't name DD for two weeks, and I tried out our shortlist on her, I called her one name one day and another the next to see what felt right. That helped us to choose, anyway.

FWIW I agree Tabitha Ivy is lovely, and goes with your other DDs' names too.

MrsSpencerReid · 10/08/2014 22:03

Love tess, but tessa ivy rolls off the tounge better for meSmile
