can't imagine what negative things could be said. it's gorgeous.

hollyisalovelyname · 06/07/2014 15:49

Nooo. I don't like it.
But if you like it.
Angelina Jolie has a Vivienne I think.

Muskey · 06/07/2014 15:52

I love it but growing up in Wales I only came across it as a boys name!

EnglishRose1320 · 06/07/2014 16:00

If you both truly love it then go for it, you will never find a name that pleases everyone.

mrssmith79 · 06/07/2014 16:16

I love it - and think it will wear well into adulthood, unlike a lot of 'baby' names about atm. I often think people forget that their babies will eventually turn into adults nowadays. But that's me just rambling Blush

Leeds2 · 06/07/2014 16:21

I think it is an absolutely gorgeous name.

KoalaDownUnder · 06/07/2014 16:23

I don't like it, tbh.

I think it's one of those names that looks nicer than it sounds (see also: Jasmine). The only Viviennes I know are 40+ and are always called Viv, which is quite hard and ugly.

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 06/07/2014 16:24

Love the name.

Only negative, and I'm really trying hard is it's the same name as Julia Roberts in pretty woman.

:)

Nereida · 06/07/2014 17:35

It's very pretty. I also like Vivien.

Rivercam · 06/07/2014 17:45

If you love it, use it. She's your daughter, not their's. I know one adult Vivienne who is a successful business lady. People will soon get used to it.

A lot of the granny-chic names that are popular today would never have been used once, but now have crept up the popularity stakes.

It's a classic, traditional name.

Rivercam · 06/07/2014 17:46

Ps. Vivienne rose is a lovely combination of names.

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2014 17:47

It's elegant, classic & beautiful. It's also unusual without being out-there.

I think I slightly prefer Vivien to Vivienne in the same way as I prefer Annabel to Annabelle and Isabel to Isabelle - it sounds the same but is a little bit neater written down.

If you love it, go for it.

Julius02 · 06/07/2014 17:48

I love it - pretty and sophisticated. Adrienne is also nice (in my opinion)....

OpiesOldLady · 06/07/2014 17:49

How would you pronounce it?

Viv-yan or Viv ee enne?

I much prefer the second way of pronouncing it. It's a lovely name.

XiX · 06/07/2014 17:50

Absolutely love it. I like Viv as a NN as well as vivi

Beautiful and classical and not over used. I had no negative response Grin

scarletforya · 06/07/2014 17:56

Vivienne us my favorite girls name all time. Beautiful and feminine.

VintageLace · 06/07/2014 18:03

Thank you all Grin

It will be pronounced Viv ee en. I also like the Vivien spelling but haven't made up my mind yet.

Most of the negative comments have been that it is an old lady name. I'm from the west midlands and people in real life think it is 'poncey' and 'try hard'. Honestly, it is just a name I have always loved.

Most of the children I know are Keeleys, charlies, Jaydens etc. I like that her name will be different from the norm without being too out there.

I really like it. Not a huge fan of Viv but think Vivi is lovely, a lot softer sounding. Once she's here people will very quickly get used to it, and it will just be her.

Guin1 · 07/07/2014 00:29

Beautiful name, goes nicely with Rose too. Vivi is a lovely nn.

bouquetofpencils · 07/07/2014 12:08

I love it. Classy, pretty whilst also being slightly unusual and has a strength to it.

It will get shortened to Viv (I know one) unless you set a nn in stone.

Notso · 07/07/2014 12:22

I don't like it at all. I know too many hard faced old Viv's from going to bingo with DH's nana. It seems every other woman there is called Viv or married to a Viv.

fattycow · 07/07/2014 12:49

I like it!
