We are struggling to think of even one name we both like. Both fairly fussy.

Criteria:

2 syllables ideally, but no more than 3.
Can't end with an M or an S
Preferably doesn't start with B, R, L
No nature names

To fit with our separate preferences, it can't be too unusual but neither can it be too strongly traditional.

Definitely not:
Henry, Arlo, Frederick, John, Ian, William, Neo, Scott, Leo

Names that one of us quite likes and the other is a bit 'meh, maybe' about:
Kester
Owen
Zeno
Ruan/Rewan
Elwyn
Quinlan
Jared
Cooper
Eisley
Gibson
Cameron
Ivan
Lennox/Lenox
Ned
Sydney/Sidney
Kitto
Lowen

If you have any suggestions please help! At the moment neither of us has anything we LOVE.

I love Quin as a nickname too, Misspilly88. Sidney's a family name on my side. DH says nope.

Toby is too cutesy - not keen on names that end with the 'ee' sound.

Griff just reminds me of Rhys Jones - not good links!

What about naming him after a place that you love or something that has some personal meaning so even if you don't love the name which is seeming unlikely you love it for it's meaning?

I would love to call a DS Kernow!

Actually it's hard to see what unites the names you like. So you'd probably be better off just drawing lots or something.

Workinglate · 01/07/2014 19:40

singersgirl, I know - to be honest, the only name DH likes so far is Owen, and it's not one I could grow to love. Everything else I've written here is what I've come up with to no avail!

Of the names above there are a few I've liked and suggested - e.g. Corin, Nathaniel - but they've been rejected.

I've tried to think of names that mean something to us but not come up with anything that's passed muster yet!

Sorry, told you it was a tricky one. I'm just feeling a bit helpless with five weeks to go and DH still cheerfully assuring me we'll think of something!

I give you ..... Blake. An old English name but not at all common.
