Sandy for a boy?

Err.... Third thread in a very short space of time, so apologies for that!
Short story- Ds2 due on a few weeks, utterly clueless on the name, have a few solids but keep veering between loving them and utterly detesting/being extremely bored of them.

On the list are Henry, Jonathon, Patrick,

Dh's family are super old money posh and the Dc's are at or will go to rugger bugger prep schools etc.
MIL has an opinion on everything and when I suggested Sebastian as an option, she pursed her chanel covered lips and said... 'not in this family dear...' and left it hanging like a forgotten dog poo bag.

The thing is, I think I want to call the baby Sandy (not on birth cert, just in general). What formal names can be shortened to Sandy? (not Alexander, although adored as a name is a) my nephew and b) an ex who caused somewhat of a stir by running off with my best friend from boarding school.

We have a stupid surname (House) which turns everything into a wing of a mental institution or a museum/ bank...

Siblings are Isabella Juliette and Arthur Benjamin.

I'm at my wits end with this!!!!!!!

You could name him Jonathon Patrick (or whatever to keep the family happy) on the BC, and still call him Sandy at home - hubby's aunt is always known as Hilary, but that's not the names on the BC, just what her siblings wanted to call her so it stuck.

Have thought of using 'MIL approved' name Jonathan etc, and then calling him Sandy anyway, but can't be arsed with the endless..
'Ehat's Sandy short for?'
' erm, Jonathon!'
' oh... right.'

I love Lysander, Dh has vetoed, but I think this is only because he thinks his mother will die of a heart attack.... (there are so many things I want to say about that, but shan't due to karma etc)

The truth is, I've given them their heir and this is the spare, so I get a lot more choice (I hope!)

Is Lysander too poncey?

Any others?
(not Andrew... my dopey brother who lost all of his money to a russian mail order bride.)

yup, Alastair/Angus/Alexander are basically all the same name so you could take Sandy from any of those.

or you could use your husbands name as the first name on BC but to save confusion, he is always known by his middle name. :o

MIL couldn't possibly object as she chose the name in the first place :o

My mil wanted, no told us to use Mortimer! As a family tradition apparently. Well needless to say we have no child called Mortimer! ( and neither does she so it can't be that traditional!) daft women

There are soooo many Henrys in our area.
And two babies born to dd's classmates mother's (if that makes sense) have been called Henry recently so that would be three in ds2's year.

Plus Henry House sounds like what a crazy lady would callthd place she keeps her hoover

ALASDAIR is Scottish Gaelic for Alexander.

You could have that as formal name and sandy for short

We all look incredibly swedish as a family.

Pretty sure that this little whipper is going to be blonde haired, blue eyed as my other two are... unless a rogue ginger gene sneaks in from my family!

I think Sandy would suit a little blonde boy.

I have an Alexander who is called Sandy. I always get comments on it as it's not too wahoo but not too common.
I like Lysander too.
I loved Henry for my first ds but everyone hated it. Everyone. I still love it though.
Lysander goes well with your other two names as well.
I really do love Sandy though.

Twighlight- lucky you, I think that would be our ideal scenario, love the name Alexander nn Sandy, so does Dh and would pass Mil sniff test.
