Enid

[Parmenides]

I have suddenly decided that I love this name above all others and frankly don't care what DP thinks on the matter.

The only weensy hitch is I'm not sure about the assonance that exists when it's used with my surname: Enid Stephens.

Thoughts?

You can tell me your thoughts on Enid too, if you like. Though I shan't listen to you unless you are wholly positive about it, obviously.

I like Enid. Not sure it flows that well with your surname, but its not dreadful. A middle name would help.

Full name will be Enid Marian Stephens. But folk don't often use their full name like that, do they?

Not for me I'm afraid, sounds very snipey and harsh, but then I hate Agatha for the same reason.

Lovely! Everyone knows it because of Enid Blyton, but it's also unusual. Good choice.

Love Enid. It's my name of choice if I ever had a dd although my dh has pre-vetoed it unfortunately.

I have just texted my friend and she says no on the grounds that it it "goes horribly with" my daughter's name.

Enid Rollins was originally a nice girl who was friends with Elizabeth and then went funny when they went to uni!

Not for me at all, sounds very dated to my ears. And Enid Stephens doesn't really flow imo. However, my own personal name taste isn't actually good so listening to me is probably a bad idea.

What about Ena? Similar idea but somehow works better with the surname, even though it's 'ee' again.

I often do think about marrying someone else. Someone artistic maybe, with red hair and stubble who knows a lot about wine and reads T S Eliot.... However, the Stephens is my name so I'll keep it even if I ditch DP for my red fox.
