Does anyone know a Bridie? Or a name similar?

I'm wondering if it is short for something? Possibly Bridget which I'm not keen on?

Does it look a bit like Birdie when it is written down?

Are there any similar names out there?

(PS we are just starting TTC, no baby on the way!)

Yes, there's one at nursery with DD. She's 3 or 4.

I love it, but don't like Bridget.

I know one who is 40 and one who is 4. Suits both of them. I think the older one is Bridget, which I quite like too.

I know two. One in her 60's and the other is about 30. Both loveliest ladies you could meet. Both popular ladies with lots of friends and energy. They're not related or even know each other. Just seems a positive name in my experience.

I know a little girl called Bridget who must be about 8/9 by now, her older brother is Jack. I think Bridget is a lovely name and their sib set is also lovely. I also have a dear friend who is godmother to one of our children and her name is Brigitte (often called Brigie - with a soft "g" sound).

Close relative is called Bridie. Fabulous woman, runs her own business very successfully, suits her name to a T, never had a misspelling or pronunciation. Oh, she's 40.

But please spell it how you've suggested, not with a Y. Looks horrible.

I love bridie and I knew a child in my ds school she would be about 24 now, so not too old.
It's a beautiful name and nicer than bridget.

It's an old ladies name in Ireland, without being particularly chic. I only know it as being a shortening for Bridget.

Yep bridies here are time thing pastry based and they are delicious. Could never call a child it.

It's a distinctly unglamorous name for an old Irish spinster.

My Great Auntie Bridie was as deaf as a post and had a boil the size of a satsuma behind her ear.

It is an old Irish name but so what? Simon Cowell just named his son Eric! Lol
you can't get much more un- glam than that. Plus all the old English names like Florence, Rose & Alma made a come back ( personally prefer Bridie to any of those )

I know a Bridie shes an adult shes lovely. I think its a pretty name.

To me its a semi-circle of pastry with beef in the middle.
The town I come from is famous for them.
Completely different from a sausage roll btw.
