Help me find a boys name...

I am going to be really fussy, dismissive for ridiculous reasons and probably sound like an arse on this thread. But I am really stuck. We've had a girls name set for a few months and I am still happy with it. But the boys name.. we keep going off them.

I need help.

I don't want anything common, in both senses of the word.

Our list thus far has been:
Jackson
Deacon
Brodie
Caleb

And I liked them all at first, and now I hate them. I think they sound chavvy. I have a DS with a top 10 name and thankfully he goes by a lesser used NN anyway, but still, I don't want to repeat that. He's one of 4 in his year.

HELP!

BJ wouldn't bother me. No one really cares about middle names anyway, and it would be BJR so no BJ jokes likely!

I'm striking Brodie anyway as too many people have negatively commented on it!

You are a bit of a puzzle to me OP. On one hand you seem to know your own mind, but on the other you seem overly sensitive to what others think. Not everyone is going to like the name you choose. You don't like a lot of the names other people choose. i just don't think it is an exact science. You just can't prepare for every eventuality. My younger son had a pretty unusual name in the area where we lived when he was born. We moved. There are now geographical reasons that mean his name (a different spelling though) is remarkably popular. There was an even more unusual name that we considered - there was a boy called this in his primary class. Even worse, both my son's are now named after local roundabouts....you really couldn't make this up!

Choose something that you feel comfortable with, that sounds nice with your surname and try not to sweat the other stuff.

apologies for the erroneous apostrophe - it's a bad habit!

If you like Brodie use it, not because a Small handful of people on here dont like it. I cant understand that.

SomewhatSilly · 23/01/2014 09:02

Callan?

I'm throwing you all the names we considered for DS2, OP. (And his actual name somewhere in the mix).

I think you are wrong here! Kids say all sorts of shit and some of the nicknames I hear are quite clever (if sometimes a little cruel)

Juno77 · 23/01/2014 09:30

Ooh Callan. That's unusual, I like it!

ding I disagree. There is no meaning r history behind my name, or DS's name, or DH's name, or my siblings names, nephews etc.. and no one cares.

I tell DS I chose his name because we liked it. No other reason.

Op, you sound a bit rude with your view on some of the names!
Who on earth calls people schemie, or chavvy?

Theonlyoneiknow · 23/01/2014 09:35

Am sûre Callan was me

Theonlyoneiknow · 23/01/2014 09:35

Am sûre

Juno77 · 23/01/2014 09:36

Well, even if they do I would overlook it. Every kid will get a nickname of some kind, i'm not saying we should make it easy but BJ isn't the worst.

I'll teach him to be hardy and take a tease in jest Wink

Ugh, here we go again...

I didn't call anyone schemie or chavvy. I said some names sound schemie or chavvy to me.

That's all.

Next time I won't bother, and get a thread filled with names I would never consider.

GRRRR, phone.

Am sure Callan has been mentioned already. I think it's a great name! The only negative with it I can think of is that it might get mis-heard for Callum/Calum (but in my opinion that is also a great name)

Juno77 · 23/01/2014 09:38

I am repeating it in my head and it does sound like Callum (I have an ex called Callum so that's a no go!)

It is a nice name though.

Do you not like Raoul - I think it's a lovely name and unusual!

Juno77 · 23/01/2014 09:59

barra I don't dislike scottish names, but they are way too popular around here (at least in my circles)..

OP posts:
Juno77 · 23/01/2014 09:59

I don't like Raoul, sorry.
