The worst baby names you have ever heard?

Just starting a list of what not to call my baby. I don't usually make a habit of judging babies by their names but some I've heard recently have been frigging awful! The most recent one being Katara Confused it just reminds me of that phlegm when you've got a cold.

So what would you not name your baby?

Leafy I said on a thread in Baby Names that K names were frowned upon and people were adamant they weren't.

They really are.

MoominsYonisAreScary · 08/01/2014 21:15

I have a k name, the usual spelling is with a c

LittleThorinOakenshield · 08/01/2014 21:19

A worst baby names thread.

And we also have a hyphen thread and trailer trash has been mentioned.

Not seen a chav yet though, only a matter of time I suppose.

Skiingmaniac · 08/01/2014 21:22

When I was preg with DS my nieces and nephews suggested the following names:

  • Liverpool (9 yr old football fan)
  • Blanket (7yr old Michael Jackson fan)
  • Poo (3 yr old poo fan)

No, DS didn't get one of their choices Grin

Blipbip · 08/01/2014 21:24

I'm not keen on Seth, but I know others like it.

It just sounds a bit wrong for a newborn, one to grow into

ThefridgeThefridge · 08/01/2014 21:31

I don't have a problem with names that are meant to begin with a 'K'.

Its just seems to be the fashion to make up a name and stick a K on the front of it.

Or corrupt a perfectly lovely name by changing the initial to a 'K'.

Why?

HandragsNGladbags · 08/01/2014 21:32

I just read Stan as Stalin which I thought was a little dictatorial Grin

I win - DD1 aged 4 wants to call DC3 Extensia. We think this may be the magical kingdom in the Barbie movies.

AryaofhouseSnark · 08/01/2014 21:34

Do you mean like a silent k fridge, like knigel ?

lilyaldrin · 08/01/2014 21:39

Worst baby names I have heard of were Adolf Hitler and Aryan Nation.

I don't think Frank and Khloey really come close Hmm

i think mrsdevere has a point - i honestly do not beleive that anyone has met a L-a or a Chlamydia.
and if someone want to spell Chloe Kloey who really, honestly, gives one?
it is just sniggering at 'chavs' - and as my son has been called 'chav' since he was about 6.......its more than a bit annoying .

Theonlyoneiknow · 08/01/2014 21:48

Well said mrsdevere, I agree it does encourage people to be nasty about names.

AryaofhouseSnark · 08/01/2014 21:51

Yes, there is a huge difference between telling someone you don't really like a name when they have started a thread asking for opinions.
This is just let's laugh at the chavs.

ThefridgeThefridge · 08/01/2014 21:51

You seemed confused as to why people were discussing baby names in the baby names topic mrsdevere.

I thought hiding the topic might help your confusion and your blood pressure Wink

I like these threads. I like to think they are helping people, esp the future children who will be judged by their name on job application forms - something which is awful but true.

ThefridgeThefridge · 08/01/2014 21:54

Kloey - I don't give a shit but dont expect me not to judge.

Poor kid.

Honestly, if a thread like this stops something like that happening it was worth all the people it offended.

lljkk · 08/01/2014 21:55

I knew a lovely little girl called Draya.
Can't say I warmed to that name.
She was in care from birth, btw, if you want to enthusiastically defend the choices her birth mother made.

SPsFifthConyoIsTheBestConyo · 08/01/2014 21:57

Names just gives people something else to look down on and makes them feel good about theirselves.

Has chavvy not been said yet??Shock That must be a record.

MoominsYonisAreScary · 08/01/2014 21:59

My names Kara, more common spelling is cara.
It hasnt done me any harm

Poor you with your K, do you feel you were conned out of a C? Grin

I'm a K namer. It can't be spelt with any other letter but it gets judged as been common and chavvy. It the 'y'version too not the 'ie' yet that doesn't get me any MN points Grin

MamaPingu · 08/01/2014 22:01

Chlamydia, no word of a lie

TheFridge I doubt comments on a Internet forum from strangers will stop people. If I had MN when I had my son I wouldn't have asked for ideas and if someone told me they didn't like the name or tried ripping it apart it wouldn't bother me.

Judging names on threads like this isn't helping anybody so why kid yourself?

ThefridgeThefridge · 08/01/2014 22:04

Yes, a thread like this will change years and years of stereotyping ....

Or better still, really make a stand, name your child a random set of letters. Thats really sticking it to the man. hmm
