Help me name DC3 - mixed race

orangestripe · 29/12/2013 22:27

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with DC3. This will be a girl, we have 2 boys already. DH is British Indian, I am White British (or whatever you call it).

Our 2 DSs have Indian first names with Classic English Middle names.

Struggling to find a girl's name that we both like. Started off looking at Indian names but are now just looking at everything since it's getting closer to needing a name.

Any inspiration greatly appreciated!

My friend's little girl, both parents British Indian, is called Kanushka. I believe it is an Indian name, and think it is lovely (although also think it sounds Russian, lol).

Also know girls at school called Ameera, Amara, Ria, Jiya and Janaki which I like.

My daughter is called Anoushka which is Hindi and Hebrew and Russian? There are plenty of other options. Are you wanting ideas?

Sheila is both - although maybe old-fashioned in English.
My name is Sheila, is a popular Hindi song, the singer is Katrina. So both of these.
Also Isla - which surprised me.
Anita, Anika/Anneka, Krisha, Amber,

I have always liked the name Anjali. I think it sounds quite cross-cultural, despite being obviously Indian.

Some lovely ideas here, thank you all. Let me know any more that you like the sound of.

Ray I've trawled a million websites looking for names but nothing jumps out at me. I thought personal recommendations might help to narrow things down rather than looking at list after list after list.

Maya is lovely and exists as a name both in Indian and Western Culture. So is Nina and Sarita (and Nadia I think!)

Leeds2 · 30/12/2013 01:17

I know a British Indian called Anjali too (aged 11). i THINK IT IS LOVELY.

NadiaWadia · 30/12/2013 01:19

A few girls that DD knows who come from Indian families are named Nikita. Which sounds nice, but to me it is a Russian boys' name (eg Nikita Kruschev (sp?)

PrincessFlirtyPants · 30/12/2013 01:20
