Tampax for short.

Cadence is very American to me, like Madison.

Elizabeth Grace maybe or Catherine Grace - Too common/popular.

Temperance is very religious. Are you? Because if not, it's a bit weird. And a weird virtue to name your child after IMO.

It's a bit Ned Flanders

Its truly awful.

I love it, makes me think of Spencer's Faerie Queen.

I like it and I read Tempe as tem pay and I like that too!

Not keen on Temperance (or Chastity). Liberty came to mind, shortly followed by the phrase 'taking liberties' so that's out too.

How about Tamsin or Tamara, or even Thomasina?

I quite like it although it sounds very religious.

youretoastmildred · 14/10/2013 15:25

aren't two virtues overkill, and perhaps contradictory? True grace can be very intemperate.

Report
youretoastmildred · 14/10/2013 15:26

Also, it is very dodgy that meek virtues are always given to girls as names. You would expect her brother to be called Bullet Ram or something. or Manley Tank or something like that

Temperance sounds like an African American middle-aged woman from the deep South in the US, who spends most of her time in a Baptist Church singing in the choir.

Starrystarryknut- I know a Cadenza!

Noooo...sorry. I like Patience and Constance is Ok too. But Temperance has got 'temper' in it which to me has the immediate association with a bad one. Also reminds me of the AA thing...

hmmm.

Ooh Thomasina ...now you're talking Smile

Temperance is awful, I don't really like virtue names but this is worse than most. The kind of name I'd expect Carrie's mother to have.

Yes.

Really bible belt to my ears. Constance is much easier to live with.

How about Honoria Grace?

RaRa1988 · 15/10/2013 12:26

Don't like it, sorry. Temperance is long and awkward and doesn't sound nice - and is there any way of shortening it?

Report
TallulahBetty · 15/10/2013 13:20

Honoria sounds like gonorrhea Shock
