What do you think of it?

Boring and over used in a Jane Austen sort of way. Is this the best name u can think of for your individual child?

mistressploppy · 05/07/2013 21:20

I like it

FlightsOfWhimsy · 05/07/2013 21:20

I love Emma. Its classic and the Emma I know is very successful and well liked.

I'm a huge fan of what I think of as 'graceful names' and Emma is in that bracket.

Tiredemma · 05/07/2013 21:22

Love it

NowPlayingZone · 05/07/2013 21:24

Lovely

Layl77 · 05/07/2013 21:25

Lovely

superdupermama · 05/07/2013 21:26

Do you think it's a bit boring, old fashioned, dull? Or totally the opposite? Or just nice, not one or the other?

notadoctor · 05/07/2013 21:28

I really like it - I think it's lovely and surprisingly underused, at least where I am.

milkwasabadchoice · 05/07/2013 21:35

It isnt exciting or exotic, it's not unique or original, but it's a lovely, sound, traditional name. I would have called my second daughter Emma if she hadn't turned out to be a boy!

Suzieismyname · 05/07/2013 21:36

If you like how it sounds then go for it. I think it's a lovely, classic name. For some people classic means old fashioned and boring. For me it means that their name will just be their name rather than their USP...

miffybun73 · 05/07/2013 21:39

Love it. Why try to be "original" (weird/pretentious) for the sake of it ?

There is a good reason why names are popular, because they are lovely names :)

wundawoman · 05/07/2013 21:42

Beautiful name Grin!!!

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 05/07/2013 21:43

I think it's a very pretty name. :)

SouthBySouthWest · 05/07/2013 21:47

Happens to be to be my name. Hated it when young. Love it now. Classic Smile

NotGoodNotBad · 05/07/2013 21:48

Lovely name. why didn't my parents call me Emma

Queazy · 05/07/2013 21:52

It's a beautiful name - it's classic and so I honestly don't think it matters if lots of others use it.

GaiusIsAnAceName · 05/07/2013 22:10

Boring but classic

superdupermama · 05/07/2013 22:12

Ok, see your points. How would you rate it against Elizabeth?

OP posts:
Kaekae · 05/07/2013 22:12

It is ok, a bit boring. It is my middle name, prefer it over my first name.

NowPlayingZone · 05/07/2013 22:14

Way nicer than Elizabeth, now that is dull.

SizzleSazz · 05/07/2013 22:14

I too think it is lovely and under used. Only one in DC's school

Wishfulmakeupping · 05/07/2013 22:14

Emma is a nice classic name but I prefer Elizabeth lots of lovely nn possibilities can I suggest Besty? And is my dd middle name so obviously fabulous

Suzieismyname · 05/07/2013 22:16

They are both beautiful classic names. Elizabeth has more potential for nicknames.

Lala241280 · 05/07/2013 22:16

Emma is beautiful name , was alway going to call my daughter it even before I knew I was having a girl lol
Black mogul think your being a bit harsh

Elquota · 05/07/2013 23:03

I quite like it, as well as other "Em" names like Emmeline, Emily etc.
