Name my dd!

Dd is due next week and we're still stumped for her name! Help me out mnetters! Here's the criteria:

  1. Middle name to be Christina so something that goes with that.
  2. We like traditional names so nothing too modern (no Keira-type names). DS is Edward, to give you an idea.
  3. Nothing one-syllabled - surname is only one syllable so I think it needs a first name that's more than one syllable to balance it out. Surname begins with P.
  4. Names we love but have ruled out because they're already in the family: Alice, Lucy, Elizabeth.
  5. Would prefer it not to be a name in the top ten - I love Olivia, Evie etc, but don't want her to be one of five in her class.

I think that's it - please share your ideas! I promise I will update with what we choose!

Lydia, that has something of Olivia about it. There are some out there but it's not as popular.

Clara
Annabel
Juliet

I second Susannah, Marianne and Penelope.

Maybe less classic but I love Hazel. That might be too quirky for your taste.

Thanks guys. I love loads of these. I've been trying to think of names that don't end in A just because I wasn't sure if that would be too much when Christina ends in A? I love Emilia, but do you think Emilia Christina sounds odd?

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/04/2013 22:09

Would deffo avoid anything with an 'A' ending tbh.

MacCrackles · 01/04/2013 22:10

My first thoughts include:

Harriet Christina P
Catherine Christina P
Helena Christina P
Sarah Christina P
Emily Christina P (although duplicates E from Edward)
Hannah Christina P
Celia Christina P (perhaps a bit of a mouthful but how often would they really be said together? )
Emma Christina P (duplicates again)
Sophie Christina P
Maria Christina P (not so sure about this one)
Amy Christina P
Philippa Christina P
Charlotte Christina P
Josephine Christina P
Alexandra Christina P
Beatrice Christina P
Felicity Christina P
These are just my first thoughts so imagine what my second and third could bring forth Wink.

Xanthe

Or as Christina was Rossetti's sister (he married an Elizabeth and you have ruled that out) but he had a well known affair with Jane Morris - not two syllables I know - and painted her prolifically.

A play on it could of course be Rosamund - Rosalinde or have a look at some of the names of his works. Actually Ophelia was possed by Elizabeth Siddall.

So:

Xanthe (because I like it)
Ophelia because of the connection
Jane because of Rossetti's mistress
Rosamund or Rosalinde because of the name Rosetti

My children sparkle by the way but you have already discounted the girl's name but the two names do go together. Grin.

Mine is going to be called Sophia as name is easy to pronounce in Dutch and English (I'm Dutch and DP is English)

SilverBirdie · 01/04/2013 22:12

If you're trying to avoid too popular is Emilia not too similar to the mega popular Amelia?
I was wondering about the A endings but think Anna Christina works really nicely Grin probably to so if both names are also three syllable though

lurcherlover · 01/04/2013 22:12

Hmm...Beatrice is one I hadn't really considered, but I like it...

I once met a little girl called Hester. At first i was a bit Shock pardon? But it grew on me. It's quite an old fashioned name. It means 'star' and has variants of Hesther, Esther, Hettie, Ettie...i think it's nice Smile

barnet · 01/04/2013 22:15

And Edward and Emilia are good together
