Just as the title says. What do you think of Lois and Lana as siblings? TIA.

Too singy-songy and showing a lack of imagination.

FergusSingsTheBlues · 13/11/2012 22:41

1970s suburban LA. cheerleader names. Quite like them. Would only work with blonde hair IMO. I have major synaesthesia though, so what would I know!

tittytittyhanghang · 13/11/2012 22:48

supermans girlfriends, but it wouldn't put me off choosing it as names if i liked each of them individually!

invicta · 13/11/2012 22:53

My first thought - sounds like a US drama show such as Will and Grace, Fraser or Everyone Loves Raymond.

This was quickly followed by pet names, cartoon characters (eg. Charlie and Lola), and finally, good names for twins.

curlypoo · 13/11/2012 22:53

no just no

Lois is a favourite name f mine, but the two together does make me think of Lois lane, I think you need to rethink Lana if this is a problem for you.

Beanbagz · 14/11/2012 00:31

I like both names. I'm just not sure that i would give siblings names with the same first initial.

Chunkamatic · 14/11/2012 00:34

Ah just read you already have a Lana (I too did as was told!) so then I would be Lana and Lois, so much less of an obvious issue!

ArbitraryUsername · 14/11/2012 00:50

They won't thank you for it when they open each other's mail. As instructed, I haven't read the thread but I'd imagine loads of people have pointed this out.

izzyishavingababyAGAIN · 14/11/2012 00:53

Superman.

spaghettina · 14/11/2012 11:32

Vintage sounding, quite cool

QueenofNightmares · 14/11/2012 11:44

Smallville Grin Lois Lane and Lana Lang.

Geargrinder · 14/11/2012 11:47

Grin welovecouscous , it's ok, I've been here long enough to know what to expect. DH and I just wanted to see how many people actually knew of Lois Lana and Lana Lang (we knew people would connect Lois with Superman anyway). DH has read all replies and not been put off. I think enough people don't know/care and the posts saying vintage, Hollywood, cool etc are in line with my own thoughts. I honestly don't give a toss about the mail thing. It's such a minor issue. Anyway, thanks for all the feedback. I'll be sure to tell my DD1 she got a bum deal. Wink. Lois is on the list, with one other name, for a decision when DD2 is born.

The mail thing isn't an issue if the have different middle initials. It is a pain if the initials are identical. I had the same as my brother and we ended up opening each others post, and that is when he was a Mister ans I was a Miss.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 15/11/2012 15:55

Smallville

delilah88 · 15/11/2012 16:07

Lois is good, ditch Lana and find something less matchy

Geargrinder · 15/11/2012 16:09

Lana (aged 2) now free to a good home Grin

we would definitely have different middle initials cahoots.

Both together are too much of a mouth full. Also men ruined the name Lana for e!

orangepudding · 15/11/2012 16:19

Meant to say mumsnet ruined the name Lana for me!

Greensleeves · 15/11/2012 16:22

superman and smallville

haven't read any other replies

Startail · 15/11/2012 16:24

No, too matchy.
I know a lovely Louis, but Lana is a bit chavy and made up. Together its too much.

just about ok if Lana is a nn for Alana (Sp)or something non alliterative.

Geargrinder · 15/11/2012 18:03

Glad my DD has now been labelled a chav. Hmm Actually, Lana is quite an old name in a few cultures. Not made up at all.
