In an age of Isabellas and Lilys etc. what names are girls never ever called anymore?

I think there are probably no baby girls called:
Andrea
Lisa
Joanne
Thelma
Michelle
Kelly
Amanda
Tracy
Karen
Tina
Wendy

If we want to be post modern we should start a revolition no names ending in 'ia' or double barrelled with Mae on the end.

Joan
Jennifer

I think it tends to go in 60 year cycles, doesn't it? So you don't call your kid nams of teh girls you went to school with, or your mum/aunties. Your grandparents' names start to seem unusual.

Meglet · 15/07/2012 21:05

I know a baby Mabel, I thought it was getting cool again.

Raahh · 15/07/2012 21:06

OP, There's a good reason why no-one use Joanne anymore - it's 'orrible.
(it's my name, I'm 40, and I've NEVER LIKED IT).

God forbid i have grandchildren named after me!

Most of these names are the names of girls I went to school with, including my own. I'm 33.

All good solid conventional names, but they weren't in the 1970s when some of them first became popular. they were quite exotic.

And I love the name Linda. I think it's lovely.
