I hate most names to be honest..
Old lady/old man names like Edith and Sidney
Posh/poncy names like Clementine and Hugo
Double barrelled first names like Lexi-Rose and Jamie-Ray
I don't particualary like the overly modern names either, like Skye and Mackenzie-they scream "chav" to me
I have a serious dislike for Irish names that are spelt nothing like they're pronounced here in the uk,I understand that in Irish language/spelling rules they make sense and its traditional, but to me it just looks stupid and over complicates what always seems to be a very simple name to pronounce, once I've been told how the heck to say it!
I'm also not a fan of names that are clearly a shortened version of another name-like Ellie instead of Ellen or Elenor and Sam instead of Samuel...my mil is particualary guilty of this-she has an Ellie, Robbie (my dh,who always gets asked "is that short for Robert?",it drives him insane and he hates his mum for giving him such a stupid name) and a Sam!
Names that are actually places drive me mad! Orlando is a place-not a name, same applies to Paris, ect.
I don't like names that are well known brand names of various food stuffs like Flora (butter!) And Felix (cat food!)
And my biggest pet peeve-names that have more than one variation in spelling and pronounciation -like Lily (I've seen this spelt 6 different ways in the past couple of years!!) And Naomi (Ny-omi or Nay-omi,you decide!) Also names that seem to have had letters taken out to shorten the length of the name-like Annabelle being spelt Anabel and Tomas instead of Thomas...
I much prefer classic and seemingly timeless names that have been around for decades or even centuries but never get/sound old but also aren't massively popular at the same time and names that don't cause any confusion with spelling or pronounciation! Like Benjamin and Chloe :)
