It is suggested on some misguided baby name threads, how do you say it?

Nev eh ur.

There is one in a remote branch of my family Blush.

I will not apologise for saying I think it is simply dreadful.

EmmaCate · 22/05/2012 13:45

It looks a bit like an all-to-cock spelling of Niamh (no irony intended...), so Neeve.

Perhaps Nev-aye-ah.

bronze · 22/05/2012 13:45

I don't know
My guess would be never
Which is quite appropriate really Grin

Sirzy · 22/05/2012 13:45

Neave (it quite hard to spell it as I say it actually!)

CaptainHetty · 22/05/2012 13:46

I keep wanting to say Nivea, as in the beauty products Hmm

Pretty sure that isn't right, though :o

I thought nee-ve too. Is it a real one?

CrumpettyTree · 22/05/2012 13:47

I wonder what other words you could spell backwards to make a name.

Paradise = Esidarap

Joyful = Lufyoj

Smashing = Gnihsams

Terrific = Cifirret

ScrambledSmegs · 22/05/2012 13:47

Nev-A-ur? Although if you say it too quickly it sounds a lot like Nivea.

ScrambledSmegs · 22/05/2012 13:48

Oops, x-posted with CaptainHetty. Too slow at this typing lark.

bronze · 22/05/2012 13:49

Love cifferet (my phone doesn't)

Yoj
Yppah
Elime
anavrin now that works Grin

Voidka · 22/05/2012 13:49

Neveah = Nee vay ah.

I woman at preschool has just had a baby and called it that - whenever anyone asks the name she has to add 'its heaven spelt backwards' like they are the middle names!

Since it just 'heaven' backwards, you can pronounce it however you want. I tend to pronounce it like this: aw-ful.

(I'd pronounce it nuh-vay-uh, really.)

squoosh · 22/05/2012 14:13

Pronounced 'Don't-Do-It-Mum'

Get0rfMoiLand · 22/05/2012 14:24

It is such a silly name.

Why would anyone think it is pretty.

Crumpetty you have made me laugh with your suggestions. Grin

Suolubaf

Suollevram

Ysatsce

Ocsid

Neknurd - hahaha!

OP posts:
hermionestranger · 22/05/2012 14:25

I believe the pronunciation is Seriously? Hmm

molschambers · 22/05/2012 14:27

Fuck me that is horrendous.

LadyWellian · 22/05/2012 14:28

I would never say Nevaeh.

TobyLerone · 22/05/2012 14:28

I'd have pronounced it Ne-vay (with the 'e' like in 'egg').

LumpyLatimer · 22/05/2012 14:28

I'd pronounce it 'what the fuck were your parents thinking.'

CaptainHetty · 22/05/2012 14:30

I just nearly spat my tea out at Neknurd. That's fucking brilliant :o

WopBopALooBop · 22/05/2012 14:30

Nuv-ay-ah, according to my distant accquiantance who named her child this.
