What names are the most chavvy do you think?

Chardonay. Macenzie.

oiwheresthecoffee · 22/01/2012 20:56

Liam or at least where i used to live.

scarlettsmummy2 · 22/01/2012 21:04

I don't really care if other people think Scarlett is chivvy- each to their own. I was just giving examples of names which I personally wouldn't choose I think they are chavtastic.

Also dislike Taylor, Tyler, Courtney, Summer, Kelly/ Shelly and Tracy.

ScarlettsMummy you've mentioned my name! Sad

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 22/01/2012 21:08

These threads always come across and mean and unpleasant.

However 'lighthearted' they try to be.

They are crap and one of the few things I really hate about MN.

poppydaisy · 22/01/2012 21:10

I agree with Robin above. A lot of us would rather our name be 'posh' than 'chav', so the latter is more likely to have negative associations to many.

But I also try to judge a person on their personality/behaviour and wish we Brits weren't so class obsessed Smile.

scarlettsmummy2 · 22/01/2012 21:13

sorry Robin. Everyones perception is different so I wouldn't worry! i hadn't really thought of Scarlett as being chavvy, but apparently others do!

My husband has a name which I imagine would have been chavvy at the time, and it doesn't really matter! I still married him!

RobinSparkles · 22/01/2012 21:37

It's alright, my real name always comes up on these threads. I'm not bothered really. I am very posh and sophisticated though. Lies

ThePoorMansBeckySharp · 22/01/2012 23:02

Courtney
Jade
Lacey-Mae or anything along those lines
Crystal
'creative' spellings eg Makkaylaa for Michaela.
etc

poppydaisy · 23/01/2012 11:01

Spike, do you really think of Edward, James, Henry and William as 'chav' names?

lol at spike.

I have been a judgemental old cah on these threads before but I won't do so now, it must be hateful to see your child's name described as chavvy.

Plus someone said that my dd's name (Sophia) was 'common' the other day, and they preferred Sophie.

The fucking bastards. Grin

notso · 23/01/2012 11:58

I have a friend who is a self-confessed chav.
Her DC are James, Owen and Hugh.

RobinSparkles · 23/01/2012 12:38

GetOrf Sophia is beautiful, IMO. It's my DD1's middle name!

although I wouldn't listen to me, I'm a chav with a chavvy name

Montsti · 23/01/2012 12:51

Made-up/"unique"/nicknamey/double-barrelled first names are often perceived as chavvy as are names popular in new world countries (surnamey names)...

I won't give any examples for fear of offending but do find it odd that the majority appear to be deeply upset when the word "chavvy" is used, but not "posh" or "common" as in widespread... It seems to be ok to constantly diss the so-called boring/unimaginative "top ten" names but not other names...

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and my criteria for choosing my children's names is that both DH and I love the names, whether popular/chavvy whatever...We don't feel the need to choose a name outside of the top 100 just because it's unusual...

Good luck to everyone!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 23/01/2012 12:58

my own name is a really chavvy one as well

Grin
OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/01/2012 13:00

I am a chav and I have a proper posh name.

So its all bollocks.

Ner

ShowOfHands · 23/01/2012 13:05

Gerrof, you said your real name on a thread a while ago and I was shocked. I had you down as a Stevie. In my head you will remain a Stevie. Or Charlie at a push.

My sil actually calls herself a chav. She says it's a badge of honour. Least I think that's what she says, can't hear her round the mouth full of cheeseburger and fries. Her dc have biblical names. So maybe all biblical names are chavvy.

DS is named after a ninja turtle an angel. Grin

GetOrfMoiiLand · 23/01/2012 13:07

Stevie! Charlie!

I was nearly called Regan after the kid in the Excorcist, that is the absolute truth. can you imagine. I assume I was a hideous baby, but I didn't actually think I was the antichrist.

Tanyaaah · 23/01/2012 13:11

Anything beginning with "K"!

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 23/01/2012 13:14

I've got a vile chavvy accent.
