Baby no.5 is 5 wks old and still has no name Sad We've sort of got a short list but I can't say she looks like any of them or that I love any of them but we're getting desperate. What do you think or any suggestions very welcome.
Louisa (don't like Lou)
Imogen
Harriet
Felicity

We're trying to avoid top 20 names and our surname is Clark which rules out my favourite name Clara

It's really odd choosing another person's name. Names are something we have, given by somebody else a lifetime ago. We introduce ourselves using them, they're the label we carry through our lives. Having to assign this to another person always comes with the feeling that nothing fits. Because how can you sum up a brand new wonderful life which you adore like nothing else. They should come with a tag really.

I think most parents end up calling their children 'baby boy' or 'spongebob' affectionately for the first 6 months as their name just doesn't seem right for a while. DS is 19wo today and when people ask his name I still think 'is that his name, how odd'. DD is 4 now and her name fits her perfectly but it took a long time.

ShowOfHands · 14/01/2012 11:18

ATruth, dd chose ds's name as we couldn't think of anything we agreed on.

crocodilesmiles · 14/01/2012 13:53

Do you have a name for her yet?

I think Lara Clark sounds nice.

Can I also suggest Daniella as I think this is a pretty and under-used name.

Also I think it would be nice to have Belle as a middle name, as it has a story attached and can be a reminder of the early days when your older DC called her Tinkerbell!

Let us know what you choose in the end.

Rose would make a lovely middle name. A close relative is Ros and if I ever have another girl would have Rose as the middle name after her.
I like Caitlin Rose personally.

It would go really nicely with any of the names you have listed in your first message.
No offence, but not keen on Tinkerbell, and she might not be when she's older either. Maybe you could use it as a family nn for her though.

babloogirl · 14/01/2012 15:05

I don't know if you have decided yet but what about Maryam?

MammaInTheMaking · 14/01/2012 16:43

Lyra Clark?

CheerfulYank · 14/01/2012 17:09

Isn't it ShowofHands ?! I remember when we got DS' Social Security card in the mail when he was a few months old with SAMUEL ROBERT LASTNAME on it, all official-like. It was the first time where I thought "huh, that really is his name he's going to have forever." :)

WoodyAllenJesus · 14/01/2012 17:18

Julia, Helena/Eleanor, Fleur, Emilia, Heidi, Heather, Alice. Rosa is lovely as already suggested.

From your list I love Felicity and would def choose for a DD if I didn't already have a Verity.

"I find it really odd that people can not decide a name in the 9 months of pregnancy, but that is just me."

It took us until after DS was born, we couldn't agree on a name - that's not hard to understand it is?!

(Anyway if you said that to me you can be sure I wouldn't pick one of your name suggestions!)

My Nan's name was Louisa-Rose and I always thought it was so pretty.

CheerfulYank · 16/01/2012 18:25

For a girl sometime I want Susannah Rose, with Annie Rose as a nn. So pretty, I think!

Where are you OP? Did you decide?

Heswall · 16/01/2012 18:33

Felicity is very under used and my favourite.

She must have a name by now. OP said she was 5 weeks old when she posted a week ago so presumably she must have had to register her by now?

pottypit · 18/01/2012 11:45

I'm sorry to say we still haven't got a name, regitration appt next week 9 days late Sad
Still considering Harriet (not keen on nn's) Felicity (like nn Lissy ds has trouble with s's) Imogen (don't like nn's and wanted a less popular name)
Had to drop Louisa as a family member has used it.
Like Lara but it sounds a bit modern (Lara croft)
Like suzannah (but my sister has very similar name)
I like Agnes, Fleur, Elise Dh does not.
