Baby no.5 is 5 wks old and still has no name Sad We've sort of got a short list but I can't say she looks like any of them or that I love any of them but we're getting desperate. What do you think or any suggestions very welcome.
Louisa (don't like Lou)
Imogen
Harriet
Felicity

We're trying to avoid top 20 names and our surname is Clark which rules out my favourite name Clara

I think we have similar taste in names. My DDs are Eliza, Annie and Clara and we've shortlisted all your choices at some point or another. We were planning on shortening Louisa to 'Lucy' so prehaps that's an option.

Currently expecting DC5 and our girls list current contains

Louisa
Estella
Agnes
Ada
Martha

Ladyemem · 11/01/2012 18:59

imogen's the best name choice but it may get shortened to immie. which is cute. Like Rosa Clarke too. my sugggestion Mia Rose Clarke

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 11/01/2012 20:14

Of your list I prefer Imogen or Felicity (both would be on my shortlist if I had a girl) Have you tried her out with nicknames for your favourites? E.g. Flick / Fliss, Immy, Hatty?

Other ideas...

Verity Rose Clark
Cora Rose Clark (Cora was mentioned on another thread recently, I think it's lovely and similar to Clara but without the 'Clar' repetition?)
Edith (nn Edie) Rose Clark
Erin Rose Clark
Emily Rose Clark

Have you managed to pick a name yet pottypit?

mamalovesmojitos · 13/01/2012 21:23

Weird, the first name that popped into my head before I even opened the thread was Rosa! Confused

soexciteddontwanttowait · 13/01/2012 21:32

I also agree Lara Clark sounds great!

FetaCheeny · 13/01/2012 21:37

I'd go for Harriet, Harriet or Harriet...

But if you must go for one of the others :o Felicity and Imogen are both nice, although Imogen reminds me too much of Imogen Thomas. Not keen on Louisa.

justonemorejingle · 13/01/2012 21:39

Imogen is lovely!

Eloise
Beatrice
Rose

RabidEchidna · 13/01/2012 21:40

For Gods sake NOT Kimberly unless you want her to go through school being called boggie.

Harriet Clark is a lawyer
Imogen Clark is a designer
Felicity Clark is a journalist
Louisa Clark is a house wife

I vote Imogen and add Kecia to the mix

AKissIsNotAContract · 13/01/2012 21:42

I love Ottilie. I can't have it as it doesn't go with our surname. It goes well with Clark though.

Selks · 13/01/2012 22:24

I met a Lillian today, and thought it was a lovely name.

CheerfulYank · 13/01/2012 22:29

Eleanor?

Love Felicity and Louisa.

Rosabelle? :)

CheerfulYank · 13/01/2012 22:29

Or Rosamund/Rosalind also lovely.

FarloRigel · 13/01/2012 22:36

Eloise to avoid the Lou?
Roisin to have the meaning Rose? I have known two Roisins, they are both lovely. One pronounces it Row-sheen (as in row your boat) and the other Rosh-een. I prefer the first way but it's good both ways.
I like Imogen Clark. If you want a variant what about the pre-Shakespearean version of the name, Innogen?

NotnOtter · 13/01/2012 23:18

i know an adult Imogen clark!!

pottypit · 13/01/2012 23:56

Hi, we still Haven't decided on a name Sad feeling a bit sad about It now.
Got round to making an appointment to register but nothing available until 25th which is 9 days over, told off for leaving it so long and possible fine.
Thank you all for your thoughts and suggestions. Why do I always find this bit so difficult, I really wanted a name when she was born but for the 5th time we can't decide. SadSad

OP, do you not like Lara? or Lana? I think they both sound lovely with Clarke. I particularly love Lana. Clarke sounds good with lots of names actually.

Do you like the bell names like Annabel, or Arabella?
Arabella Clarke sounds lovely.

justonemorejingle · 14/01/2012 00:51

Maybe because you really like Clara and nothing else fits. Just go for it, it's not the worst combination of name and surname. Clara is a nice name.
It's only James Bond that introduces himself with his surname!

CheerfulYank · 14/01/2012 06:48

Clarabel Clark?

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 14/01/2012 07:49

OP - I was one of those who believed everyone when they said "you'll just know what name you should use when he's here" so had a shortlist when LO arrived and expected one of them to just 'stand out'. It didn't so we went for our favourite from the list, but tbh, LO is still called 'baby', 'baby bear', 'little man' etc more often than he is called 'name' because it still doesn't feel quite right. He's growing into it though.

Oh dear, that was long winded wasn't it? I think what I'm trying to say is that whatever you choose, LO will suit it (or it will suit LO) so don't worry too much. All of the names you've mentioned on here are lovely Smile

On a practical note, in our area there are three places where we could register the name. Is there anywhere else in your area so you can avoid a fine?

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 14/01/2012 07:52

Another thought, have you asked the other four DC what they think? I wouldn't normally suggest it after friends 'promised' their eldest child he could choose the name of the next and almost ended up with a baby called 'He-Man' but in this situation it might be interesting?

letsblowthistacostand · 14/01/2012 11:05

DD is Louisa and never gets called Lou. Louisa Rose Clark is really pretty.
