Three syllabel Girls Names - with nice shortening

I'm not bothered by popularity. I have a popular name and I like it.

I love the names Isabel, Olivia, Amelia, but would not use as I'd run the risk of Izzy, Livvie or Milly. I don't like the ie or y ending.

I like a classic strong name.

I have a lot of name associations, so although nice names, I would not use Annabel, Verity, Catherine, Christina, Susannah or Violet. I just can't get past the people I know with these names. Silly I know.

Certain names that trend on here, such as Allegra, I consider too posh, and it doesn't fit with common DH and I.

Hope I have not offended everyone.

So far we have one name:

Helena

Any other suggestions?

To me, Bella is nn for Annabella or Isabella, not Isabel. I might put Isabel back on the list, it is a lovely name.

Dh doesn't like Isabella

Linnea

Natasha - Nat's a good friends name. He's Nathaniel. Just not fitting, with surname somehow, when I say it outloud
Meredith - beautiful name, but associate it with Kercher, sorry.

Roberta - I think of Roberta Flack, just not working for me, somehow, although Flacks version of Killing Me Softly is so much better than The Fugees. Getting sidetracked
Antonia - not fitting, but thank you.

Linnea - sounds like a floor covering.

Had to delete Samantha from the list, I don't think DH would like it. Before I met him, he had a very good friend with this name, who died far too young. I know he still feels sad about it. Sad and keeps in touch with all her family.

We now have:

Helena
Celia
Selina
Lillian

I know, Lillian has not been mentioned, it will almost definitely be shortened to Lily (not so keen on), but I can still call her Lillian. I just love the name.

Alicia and Jennifer have been deleted, just not fitting, although I do like the names.

Whoever said earlied on that I like the Ls, I think you are right, there is a trend, and I've only just noticed it myself.

Gabrielle - hate the name Gabby, I know hate is a strong word, but thats how I feel.

Wow u are super fussy

And Francesca may be a chain of hairdressers but most names have shops named after them - and it also happens to be an Italian girls name!!

Redrubyblues · 07/12/2011 16:46

Susanna - Susie

belgo · 07/12/2011 16:47

I suggested Linnea because it's scandinavian, and I thought it might suit you if you are tall and blondGrin

nickelbabe · 07/12/2011 16:51

Andrea can be andy/andi/andee, ree, rea

(having said that, i've always been andrea, not matter how hard i try!)

belgo · 07/12/2011 16:51

Anneka, again thinking of dutch/scandinavian names.
