Three syllabel Girls Names - with nice shortening

I'm not bothered by popularity. I have a popular name and I like it.

I love the names Isabel, Olivia, Amelia, but would not use as I'd run the risk of Izzy, Livvie or Milly. I don't like the ie or y ending.

I like a classic strong name.

I have a lot of name associations, so although nice names, I would not use Annabel, Verity, Catherine, Christina, Susannah or Violet. I just can't get past the people I know with these names. Silly I know.

Certain names that trend on here, such as Allegra, I consider too posh, and it doesn't fit with common DH and I.

Hope I have not offended everyone.

So far we have one name:

Helena

Any other suggestions?

Meonia - it's an anagram name, just like Nevaeh (heaven backwards). Not a fan of anagram names, but thank you.

OP posts:
FellatioNelson · 08/12/2011 13:07

What is that an anagram of then? Confused

Lydia - nice name but she's my nemesis at work.

Alexa - for some reason, the name Alexa Jordan, came to my mind, and I thought no. But I didn't know who Alexa Jordan was, so I went and googled. Turns out she's a porn star. Still dont know how I knew the name Alexa Jordan, as I don't watch porn. Blush. Perhaps its a name that come us with the boys in the pub. Well the google images I saw, have not put me off. But thank you so much.

Joanna - lovely name, but forever a 1970s name for me. But thank you

So glad you agree on the R thing. I also worry about S's too, do you think I should veto S's too?

MildlyNarkyPuffin - no, don't remind me of Cassandra of Troy. But she was rather beautiful wasn't she?

Here's a little tip, people.

Organise this thread so it appears on a single long page. Then do Control + F and you get a little search box at the foot of the screen. Type in any name and if it has already been suggested, it will be found and highlighted.

The challenge now is to find names that haven't already been mentioned :o

shouldnotbehere · 08/12/2011 13:13

Fallon - not us, but thank you

OP posts:
ElaineReese · 08/12/2011 13:13

Helen was beautiful, Cassandra was an oracle.

I am descending into madness. Can we have a collective vote?

I could start another thread for collective vote, or perhaps I could set up a free survey with e survey pro? And then a thread on the results.

What do you think?

FellatioNelson

Oh FFS. Katinka and Pelagia? See what happens OP, when you make us desperate?

I have a few names, its just I'm so busy replying to the comments, that I don't get round to list the up-to-date names.

Ariel is very nice. I know, I know, it's a washing powder.

Oh, I'm so predictable, Fellatio beat me to it!!

OP posts:
hohohoshedittant · 08/12/2011 13:23

Freya is a bit like Faye, but longer?

OP have you thought what will happen if you name you DD then someone with that name wins x-factor/big brother/kills someone a couple of weeks after your baby is born? Or what if you say to someone 'oh this is Helena' and they say 'Helena, oh that always reminds me of that 17th century serial killer/whore/x-factor winner'.....then what will you do.....

shouldnotbehere · 08/12/2011 13:24

Redrubyblues

I am on the point of making my way to Wales and taking the kid to be registered behind your back. It will be poncey, ending in Y and named after a deeply tragic and shallow pop star.

So there.

Grin. Rocking with laughter.

Who's the shallow pop star, then?

OP posts:
FellatioNelson · 08/12/2011 13:24

That's the shortest shortlist in the world. Confused
