Three syllabel Girls Names - with nice shortening

I'm not bothered by popularity. I have a popular name and I like it.

I love the names Isabel, Olivia, Amelia, but would not use as I'd run the risk of Izzy, Livvie or Milly. I don't like the ie or y ending.

I like a classic strong name.

I have a lot of name associations, so although nice names, I would not use Annabel, Verity, Catherine, Christina, Susannah or Violet. I just can't get past the people I know with these names. Silly I know.

Certain names that trend on here, such as Allegra, I consider too posh, and it doesn't fit with common DH and I.

Hope I have not offended everyone.

So far we have one name:

Helena

Any other suggestions?

lol, op you're brill.

When you accepted Scarlett it threw me, you were asking us for 3 syllables !

Is it still 3?

belgo · 08/12/2011 12:52

I don't understand why you want Huw for a boy but have discounted Fay for a girl as it is just one syllableXmas Confused

Redrubyblues · 08/12/2011 12:52

Rowena Faye

Morwenna - I know a Morwenna, as its such an unusual name, it will always be her name. DH wouldn't let me use Morwenna, the Morwenna we know, and I happen to love, is rather promiscuous, which I think is fine, but DH has associations with my promiscuous friend. Not making any sense, but its a no.

Angharad - this has been on and off our list. I think it's going back on. I've met Angharad's, but none of them have ever had nn's. Is that everyone else's experience. The shortenings Ang / Harrad, are just not pretty to my ears

Demelza - not us, but thank you.

PercyFilth · 08/12/2011 12:57

Corinna - A NAME I LIKE, will put it past DH I'm singing in my head Corrine, Corrina as I type this. Nope the singings putting me off. Sorry

It's pronounced Cor-INN-a, not Cor-EEN-a, so I don't see the problem.

But I think you're just taking the piss now, tbh.

shouldnotbehere · 08/12/2011 12:58

Bernadette - bernie, nope

Lowri - I think I like this name, not 100% convinced, but I do like it! Do you think the pronounciation would be okay? To me it's a bit tricky

Teleri - like this name, even though it has an ie prnounciation, Tel-air-ie. But it's not quite right, I just don't like the ie y endings.

OP posts:
ElaineReese · 08/12/2011 13:03

Teresa to Tess.

FellatioNelson · 08/12/2011 13:03

FellatioNelson

I'm trying honestly, but we've been through every name ever used in the western world since the beginning of fucking time, and I can't remember the entire contents of the last 9 pages!

It's so sweet of you all to help me, we have options for DH, we're making bloody good progress I think. Thanks Thanks Thanks
