Right me and my partner both like names of a completely different 'style' and HATE each other's choices.

We each think our 'style' of names is the better one obviously and have a bet going as to who can get most votes for the name we have each chosen.

In the interest of fairness I will not say who has chosen what name so it's a simple vote between which girl's name you prefer out of the two listed.

If you have a reason as to why you like / hate a certain name please state why.

Thanks :)

Right so the choices are:

Clara
or
Chelsea

Clara. I LOVE Clara. Or Clarice. Elegant, simple, classic, will never date.
Chelsea is common as muck. Truly awful. Screams bimbo in a nightclub trying to bag a footballer.

scarlettlips · 06/11/2011 18:40

What Hassled said..no need to repeat!!

meditrina · 06/11/2011 18:40

Clara.

I generally don't think place names work as well on girls as they do on boys, and there's always the risk of people thinking it's a "place of conception" name (though Chelsea is rather more established, so might escape this). In some footballing families it would of course be a no-no, but this probably doesn't apply to you.

HappyCamel · 06/11/2011 18:42

Chelsea? Please don't. Why not Marble Arch or Kensington or Knightsbridge?

Clara, Clarice, Clarabelle are good. If you like "ee " sounds then Charity, Katy or something similar would be nicer.

NickNacks · 06/11/2011 18:42

I bet DH's choice is Chelsea and he supports Chelsea! I know of 3 Chelseas, two from when I was a child, and all the dads support Chelsea FC.

BabyDubsEverywhere · 06/11/2011 18:43

Not mad on either but I can think of a worse name that Chelsea but my taste in names has been questioned on here many times Grin

ImpYCelyn · 06/11/2011 18:43

Clara. Chelsea is awful.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/11/2011 18:44

Clara

countrybump · 06/11/2011 18:44

Clara, definitely!

musttidyupmusttidyup · 06/11/2011 18:45

Clara. Chelsea sounds tacky and unpleasant.

seeker · 06/11/2011 18:48

Clara. But Clare is better.

iloveberries · 06/11/2011 18:50

clara is ok
chelsea is awful

Montsti · 06/11/2011 18:54

Clara is a nice name, but am afraid Chelsea is awful - chavtastic!

Dee03 · 06/11/2011 18:55

Don't like either tbh but out of the 2 Clara is better.....the other is common and chavvy ( apologies to anyone called that) Grin

thousandDenier · 06/11/2011 18:55

Chelsea.

NOT REALLY!

Clara all the way. Grin

usualsuspect · 06/11/2011 18:57

Clara is awful

I don't like Chealsea much either

usualsuspect · 06/11/2011 18:57

or Chelsea Grin

SacreLao · 06/11/2011 19:01

Thank you very much everyone!!!

Clara isn't my favourite name either but it summed up the 'style' of name I like, elegan and classy.

OH suggested Chelsea and I pissed myself laughing pointed out it was a little chavvy, thank you for confirming this everyone.

By the way, neither of us support Chelsea FC.

Clara. Chelsea is dreadful.

SacreLao · 06/11/2011 19:08

I am officially getting a week off taking the kids to school, woo hoo Grin

I tried suggesting we bet school runs until the children leave school seeing as I was so sure most people would hate Chelsea but OH was having none of it.

Oh well got a second debate running now, trying to gamble my reward for that one once Mumsnet rules once again.

Chelsea is vile. I know that goes without saying since everyone else has already said it, but it's so awful, I felt I needed to throw that in there! Grin

Clara is lovely, as long as it's pronounced Clair-a rather than Clarr-a.

Note2Self · 06/11/2011 19:37

Clara is lovely., Chelsea isn't.

Note2Self · 06/11/2011 19:37

...and ooh no to Clair-a. Sounds made up. Clah-ra pronunciation much classier.
