Love Rufus and Edward.

How about Reuben, Edwin, Felix, Sebastian, Richard, Hugh, Rory, Miles, Alexander, Charles, Nathaniel?

frutilla · 30/10/2011 20:50

I like Rupert, I keep thinking DS2 looks like one. Like Rufus too, prefer Rafe to Rafferty, Edward's ok.
What about Edmund, Gaspard, Ralph, Gilbert, Anton, Vincent, Raymond, Frederick, Julius, Roland...

ShesAStar · 30/10/2011 20:51

Love Rupert and Edward, also love Jude, Gabriel, Cassius, Bay and Teddy - these were on my short list before I found out we were having a girl!

LemonDifficult · 30/10/2011 20:52

Rafferty sounds like trying a bit hard. The others are lovely

latrucha · 30/10/2011 20:53

Rufus and Edward. Daniel?

scarevola · 30/10/2011 20:56

I love Rupert and Edward, and think Rafferty is ok.

And of the other suggestions so far, I really like Edmond, Frederick, Alexander, Edwin and Julius.

How about: Dominic, Benedict, Randolph, Ferdinand or Maximillian?

serin · 30/10/2011 20:58

Rufus and Edward are gorgeous.

frutilla · 30/10/2011 21:00

Liking Ferdinand!

threecurrantbuns · 30/10/2011 21:00

Well I do love Ralph but we have a Hugo and a boy at our daughters school calls him Hugo boss so we figure Ralph would be a bad move being as its a well known designer aswell.

Not the reason we chose Hugo btw didn't even occur to us.

I really like Rupert dh isn't hundred percent not sure if its too different haven't come across one yet but to me seems a traditional but un used lovely boys name.

So think my next in line would be Rufus but wouldn't like Ruf and would round too like Ruth which is a girls name.

Rafferty would be Rafe for short which is ok.

Edward is traditional and nice but there is also alot

Boys name are so hard lol

Howard / Howie - I've known a couple and they've been great!

LynetteScavo · 30/10/2011 21:09

Bruce

Hamish

Hugo

LynetteScavo · 30/10/2011 21:10

Montgomery (Monty)

Anton (Toto)

Barnaby

threecurrantbuns · 30/10/2011 21:20

We have friends with Bruce and Barnaby.

Did put Monty on our list but decided against it.

We have a Hugo already :)

I was worried about his name at the time wasn't sure if it was a bit too different but I loved it so went for it and I love love love it so glad we stuck with it.

I feel a bit similar with Rupert really love it but not sure if It's a bit too out there dh is worried people will think we are trying to give our children posh names Hugo is posh apparently.

I would like to think it would get the same positive responses as Hugo did/does.

Rufus is really growing though but can't get Rufus Hamond out of my head not a good association Imo

Edward. Boys are best off with names that are easy to live with.

collegedropout · 30/10/2011 21:41

We have a Ferdinand (who we call Ferdy) and a Leopold - they might fit your criteria?

Your shortlist is similar to ours- we ended up with an Edward and a Robin (who was nearly Hugo). They are not twins btw, we just struggled with boys' names twice!

threecurrantbuns · 30/10/2011 21:57

TeamEdward. In your opinion how would you say the Rupert's you know feel about their name?

I have the comment of if you have a boy you can't call him that it would be cruel and a target etc etc

That is good to hear. Not really bothered about the Rupert bear thing tbh as there are so many children's program characters that if you avoided a name for that reason it would narrow choices down alot.

Although its not used much I don't view Rupert as a way out name although alot of people do. To me its like a massively nicer variation of Robert

Rupert is awful sorry, would sound even worse if he couldn't pronounce his Rs.

RickGhastley · 31/10/2011 14:02

How about:

Emil (love this!)
Louis
Henry
Clement (Clem)
Milo
Frederick
Sebastian
Lucien
Edmund

threecurrantbuns · 31/10/2011 15:52

No wouldn't be good if he couldn't pronounce his Rs but that would be the case with any name beginning with R!

Do like Henry and Harry butts think It's too much with Hugo.
