If our DCs could choose the new baby's name...

I want to hear some funny suggestions from your DCs. This is the list that my two (aged 4 and 5 yo) would have written for their new brother or sister:

Poostand
Lovely
Bullseye
Die (my DS doesn't want another sister)

Not a sibling to my DS bt my little brother age 7 wanted to call DS Galaxy, I thought he was being very sophisticated thinking of the galaxy like with the stars and planets etc, turns out it was after the chocolate bar... Ds not called Galaxy but his teddy bear is as compromise :)

My friend's 3 year old DS wanted to call his baby brother "chocolate cake". 6 months later we met up and I was pregnant. So he asked us to call our baby "chocolate cake". Everyone said "but that's what you wanted to call your brother", so he changed it to "strawberry tart" Hmm

DD wanted to call ds Alien. Ds was born at 27 weeks and to our shock looked just like an Alien.

This reminds me of the time we played a trick on dd1 and told her she was nearly named stinky,to which she replied "but thats a boys name"!
Still tickles me years later Grin

DS1 said he wanted to call DS2 Thomas the Tank Engine. We dropped 'the Tank Engine' and went with it Smile

I wanted to call my sister Macaroni, after Yankee Doodle. I was 2.

The children in my year 2 class came up with some suggestions for my new niece:

Chloe
Emily
Alex
Lucy
Loony, and

my DS was a huge Bob the Builder fan, and wanted to call our baby "Digger" - "...because we can't call him Scoop".

He also liked Clifford (as in "the big red dog") or Scooby (after scooby-doo).

DSS, who was 5 then 7 at the time, INSISTED DN and then DD should be called Paisley!

When pushed for other possible alternatives he volunteered Mr Incredible, Baby or, rather more sensibly, James!

What brilliant suggestions! I especially like Tesco and Bambi.

DS's choice would probably be both car-related and extremely pedantic, so something like ?koda-Fabia (we are having a girl).

My nephew wants to call my baby:

Dog (after his teddy)
Willy-face (me: even if she is a girl, him: euuurghhh, don't keep it if its a girl)
and then, if these gems are no use to me - he would like to call it after himself, because apparently he has the best name in the world (bless!)

He also asked me the other day how the baby got in my tummy. I may be a grown up, but I went red and told him to ask Grandma..... am hoping that birth will grant me the magic ability to handle these situations. Gulp!

DD1 insisted on calling DD2 Daisy. She called my bump Daisy for months. I refused to call her Daisy as her surname is Gardener. A Daisy Gardener. She has it as a middle name but no one uses it and dd1 immediately used the name i choose when she was born.

We did let DD1 choose DD2s middle name....she chose "Bee" and we went with it.

We'll see what DD2 thinks of it later. [hgrin]

DS initially wanted to call DD1 Mummy (for a girl) or [his own name] for a boy.

He subsequently suggested Chair, Cow, Ladder or (and he got VERY attached to this one) Lesley.

My eldest did choose, as did her classmates. They actually voted for the top three contenders. And they plotted the results as several different graphs in maths!!!

Actually, I'd have gone for the one I did anyway, but to this day her classmates and her believe they chose her name.

A friend's son also chose his sister's name after his favourite type of cereal. It was her middle name, but 'tis the name she's known by to this day...

When I was pregnant with DD2, DD1 insisted throughout that we name her Nemo (because in the scan photos she looked like a fish).

We compromised and called her Niamh so that DD1 could abbreviate to Nemo if she chose too.

In the past 2.5 years DD1 (now aged 5) has NEVER called her sister Nemo. She has instead chosen the nickname Gooby for reasons she cannot explain.
