I want to hear some funny suggestions from your DCs. This is the list that my two (aged 4 and 5 yo) would have written for their new brother or sister:

Poostand
Lovely
Bullseye
Die (my DS doesn't want another sister)

When I asked 2 yo DD what we should call DS, she suggested Mr Horse, Mr Frog or Mr Granny. The rest of the time she went around telling everyone he was going to be called Frogmella.

littlemisslozza · 23/10/2011 20:47

DS1 (3) wanted to called DC3 'Daddy' if it was a boy! Would have been slightly confusing.... DC3 turned out to be a boy but we didn't call him that!
My cousin's eldest children wanted to call their DC3 'Batman' which amused me!

VJaaarrrggghhh · 23/10/2011 20:51

Ds wanted to call baby Optimus Prime, and bump was baby Optimus til he came out and looked nothing like!

Lindt70Percent · 23/10/2011 21:06

My son wanted his sister to be called 'Book'. He was 2 at the time. I think it was because he'd seen us looking at the baby names book so many times.

fusspot66 · 23/10/2011 21:12

My 3 y.o DD wanted Timmy, as in the lamb at nursery school, Owl? or Jesus! For baby brother.

julienoshoes · 23/10/2011 21:30

Dd1 wanted Dd2 to be called Peter Rabbit

AScatteringofPoorSardines · 23/10/2011 21:47

tootssweet Prince Cheese

DS1's list for DS2

Miracoon
Maggot
Theo

Guess which one we used (middle name)Grin

DD1 has recently decided we should have another baby so she can call her Lavendar Jeffries (not our surname), she says she has other names available if that isn't to our liking.
On a more worrying note, she also asked me how many years before she can have babies as she wants 6. She is 5.

AScatteringofPoorSardines · 23/10/2011 21:50

Haha fusspot, one of DS2's suggestions for DD1 was Cheesus. All through reception he couldn't understand what the bible had to do with a dairy product.

banana87 · 23/10/2011 21:54

DD (3) wants to name her baby sister............

Gravy Hmm

purpleflower123 · 23/10/2011 22:12

DS(5) and DD(3) want to call DC3

Kenneth for a boy (DS class mate)
or
Princess Marabelle for a girl

I have a feeling it won't be either :)

SE13Mummy · 23/10/2011 22:16

DD1 (aged 4.5 at the time) knew that we had no intention of letting her choose a name for DD2. When other adults asked for her suggestions she'd reply, "hmm... I think I'd like the baby to be called Curtains if she is a girl or Poo-Poo Head if he's a boy".

Her main criteria were that the name mustn't begin with an H (her initial), M (for Mummy) or D (for Daddy). We failed on that front - DD2's name begins with an M.

borninastorm · 23/10/2011 23:12

Ds1 wanted sinister or axl or slash or any of our great guitarists names for ds2. He was 16 when I was pg with ds2.
Dd was happy with any name that wasn't any of the above.

NotnOtter · 23/10/2011 23:47

dc4 told his teachers his new baby was called 'Fly' - as my dc have obscure names this caused a few raised eyebrows

zipzap · 24/10/2011 01:10

ds1 wanted to call dc2 'Ro Ro' after his then-favourite song - row row row your boat gently up the stream...

We compromised and it became the baby's 'bump name' before he was born, worked well to endear the bump/baby to ds1. Was then used for about 6 weeks officially until we managed to finally choose the real name and for quite a long time afterwards. I was hoping to find a middle name that had 'ro' in it - would have liked Jethro but that was vetoed by dh and he now has a second name that I didn't like at the time and still hasn't grown on me - it's fine on other people, I don't dislike it on them but it is just a name that I never ever considered using for my own child and I have no idea how it stuck - even when I burst into tears at the registrar's office because I thought we were doing the wrong thing Blush we still ended up with it, not sure how dh managed to veto my choice but he got his choice Hmm

sorry, didn't mean to disappear off on a rant. hadn't realised it obviously still rankles quite as much as it does.

ds2 (3) likes choosing names for his toys and I suspect if there is ever a dc3 he would like to be involved in choosing. However he has just called his bakugan Brian. I have no idea where he got the idea for the name Brian, it's not really one you hear very often these days. However he loves it and will sit and sing his 'Brian the Bakugan' song for ages whilst playing - makes me Grin anyway because it's just so incongruous!

FearfulYank · 24/10/2011 01:18

Pacific Jack for a boy
Birthday Cake for a girl

DS is 4 :)

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 24/10/2011 01:31

Lots of great names suggested here!

DS was very prem so we hadnt got around to thinking about names. My neice wanted to call DS Toby which was actually a contender at one point.

I on the other hand, when going in for my c-section, could only think of one name .... DH has great fun telling everyone I kept saying to the midwives "just don't let me call him Zebedee" whilst giving birth Grin

Eralc · 24/10/2011 06:56

DS1 wanted to call DS2 Water Galaxy. He spent a fair while introducing his new brother as baby Water (followed by us having to explain that no, that isn't his name!)

KnitterNotTwitter · 24/10/2011 09:21

I'm PG and DS suddenly asked me yesterday what the baby was going to be called. I asked him what he thought it should be and he said Norman. Then he changed his mind and said Pirate was a much better name! Quite agree - although we're not going to be using either of them!

Changebagsandgladrags · 24/10/2011 09:46

If we had a girl DS1 had decided on Rusty for DC2. Luckilly he was a boy!

mamandeouisti · 24/10/2011 10:08

AVoidkaTheKillerZombies - maybe your ds had misheard Jack Sparrow? Think Chad sounds like a woolworths version of the Depper!

JessieEssex · 24/10/2011 10:44

My nephew, when he was about 4, asked why he didn't have a middle name. My sister explained that it was because they couldn't decide on one, but did he want to choose one? He decided instantly on Gravel Grin and then changed that to Shane Williams (his favourite rugby player).

AVoidkaTheKillerZombies · 24/10/2011 10:50

mamandeouisti - Chad is the lead singer of Nickelback (his favourite band) and Sam Sparrow is his favourite singer :0

Superfly · 24/10/2011 10:51

My ds, when he was about 6, desperately wanted a brother or a sister. Being heavily into Robot Wars at the time, wanted the name Death Metal for a boy or Matilda for a girl (these were robots on the show). Needless to say when his baby brother came along a few years later we swerved the original choices Grin

humptydidit · 24/10/2011 14:49

my kids wanted ds2 to be called Buzz or Rapunzel depending on if he was a boy or girl!!

MamaLazarou · 24/10/2011 14:54

My little boy's suggestion is 'Mummy'.

My brother's and my name choice when our mum was pregnant was 'Spider'.
