Unusual Boys Names

Hi all,
Pregnant with DC2, got my 20 week scan in 3 weeks and we're hoping to find out what it is but i'd like to have a shortlist of names.
I think we've decided (for now at least) on Delilah Mei for a girl (Mei spelt that way as a nod to one of my favourite films, not a bid to be 'interesting') but really stuck for boys, plus DH and I just can't agree. We have Dexter so it needs to go with that, only other criteria is that it should be unusual but not really weird.

Can anyone inspire me?

LaTristesse thank you! not at all, i think it'll still be a while before it becomes common :) I did hear it used as a boys name once before i became pregnant- it did help that the Sennen in question was gorgeous! :)

mommom · 18/10/2011 15:38

Fear not ladies- whatever associations are made with your DC's names, there will always be worse out there.

i know a Sister and brother who were lovingly named Ronnie-mai and Reggie-Rai
Hmm

@ Mopsyflopsy
It is quite unusual where I am , I guess it is region dependent and without specifics I was just throwing in my tuppence worth !

Jonah
Ezekiel/Zeke
Asher
Adam - not exactly unusual but I've not heard of any babies being called it recently, plus I'm biased as its the name of someone I love very much.
Elijah - again not very unusual, probably in the top 100

I'm not sure why they're all biblical, I'm not at all religious.

Ooh this has been made a discussion of the day :)

I quite like Sennen actually but willing to bet DH won't go for it.

Ooh Sausage, Sennen was nearly my daughter's name, as we were in Cornwall when we found out I was pregnant. Still don''t know why we didn't go for it...

RIZZ0 · 18/10/2011 18:29

p.s from your boys lists, Reuben is my favourite, have always loved that name.

NonnoMum · 18/10/2011 19:01

Stewart

Terrence

Gordon

PS - nice lady with a "John" - have a DN too. It's v cool.

mummylovesnancy · 18/10/2011 19:08

A neighbour of mine has just had a boy and called him Herbie, I quite like that. She also has a Milo but I think their middle names are a bit whacky- Tiger and Danger!

Names that were on our shortlist but didn't make the cut were:

Stirling
Edison
Newton
Fletcher

vividgingerchilli · 18/10/2011 21:00

Ethan, Isaac, Harvey and Nathan are popular in the school I work in. I've had at least one each year for the last few years.

emlu67 · 18/10/2011 21:01

I love the name 'Evan', not too popular but modern too!

vividgingerchilli · 18/10/2011 21:01

not Barnaby unless you are home schooling, every primary school child knows Barnaby the Bear from geography! Grin

vividgingerchilli · 18/10/2011 21:02

Travis - from bob the builder?! We have one in school and he gets sick of it being mentioned....

vividgingerchilli · 18/10/2011 21:05

So far I am loving Rufus and Griff.

Lozza70 · 18/10/2011 21:17

My DS is called Sander which we obviously love and there were only 4 registered in England and Wales in the year he was born so not bumping into any in nursery anytime soon. But other names I love for boys -

Xavier
Xylo
Lorcan
Killian

Good luck choosing Grin

NoHunIntended · 18/10/2011 21:29

Sawyer.

demonicma · 18/10/2011 21:30

it's quite regional. Douglas, Stewart/Stuart, Gordon are quite common here, along with Euan/Ewan, Angus, Hamish. We also have a rash of Kieran, Declan, Paige,.
From the above lists I like Petroc!

plrae · 18/10/2011 22:33

I love Euan as we have one, but I am definitely more traditional than trendy. Daughters are Rosie and Alexandra.
