what do you think to this name? it has really grown on me, i think it is classic and understated and quite elegant. also there don't seem to be too many baby Anna's about.
what do other people think? somebody mentioned they found it quite boring? does anyone think it is too popular now (i thought my other daughters name, Beatrice, was un-popular but there are three in her nursery class all born within 4 days of each other), and do you think it goes with Beatrice? thanks in advance.

I love Anna. Know of quite a few toddlers/young children, but it's so classic and lovely. Goes well with Beatrice too.

Scathac · 07/10/2011 10:44

A truly lovely and classic name. Can't go wrong.

wigglesrock · 07/10/2011 10:45

I have a 7 month old called Anna - boring smoring Grin, I get lots of lovely comments, but then she is very yummy Grin.

IsItMeOr · 07/10/2011 10:49

Love, love, love it. Simple, classic, elegant. Goes beautifully with Beatrice.

babyheavingmassofmaggots · 07/10/2011 10:50

I love it too.

I think there are some classic names that just work really well through all trends and this is one of them.

Anna is fine but if you wanted something longer to go with Beatrice, how about Anneliese or Annabel?

ShroudOfHamsters · 07/10/2011 11:08

Oh no - don't spoil Anna by turning it into anything longer, fluffier, less classic by miles! Anna is perfect :)

hanahsaunt · 07/10/2011 11:24

It's a perfect name Grin not that I am biased

BikeRunSki · 07/10/2011 11:32

It is perfect and gorgeous, classsic and well known, yet will never cause any smirks or questions. Very good riends have a 10 month old one, otherwise I'd be using it for DD due any minute.

LydiaWickham · 07/10/2011 11:33

It's really nice, both pretty and strong. Oh, just going to pop that on my girls names list (not that I'm pregnant)

pilates · 07/10/2011 11:46

Very nice and sounds lovely with Beatrice

MelinaM · 07/10/2011 11:47

Lovely, such an elegant unfussy name, love it!

WhaohThere · 07/10/2011 11:49

It has been one of my favourite names since I was about 8 and had an Icelandic friend called Anna. Twas a very unusual name to hear in the UK at that time. Another bonus is that it can't be shortened - no horrible nicknames!

Lovethesea · 07/10/2011 13:04

I have a nearly 3 year old Anna. We don't know any others yet. It really grew on me once we got it on the shortlist. I'm not flowery and didn't want a girly name so Anna was perfect; strong and suited to any personality. Great long history with it, lovely meaning. I don't find it plain or boring, just powerfully simple and elegant.

QueenVictoria42 · 07/10/2011 13:10

I find it is a perfectly inoffensive name. I don't dislike it, but I don't love it. I'm neutral towards it. It's better than Ann!

PandaNot · 07/10/2011 13:13

I have an almost 4 year old Anna. Not too many of them around here and everyone comments on her pretty name.

comedaygoday · 07/10/2011 14:53

It's a lovely name. Classic and elegant.

JugsMcGee · 07/10/2011 14:55

I love it, it was on my list.

Fixture · 07/10/2011 16:03

Anne is more classic and elegant than Anna IMHO.

mumofbumblebea · 07/10/2011 21:30

glad to see other people like the name. those of you with little Anna's what did you go for as a middle name if you don't mind me asking? i think i need a long middle name as the surname is quite short.

Lovely, quite possibly the only perfect name in the world. I have one in the family or I would have used it. She's the only one of her age (9) that I know around us so not overly popular, which is good.

wigglesmonsterock · 07/10/2011 21:39

mumofbumblebea I went for a family name - Clare. We never ever use middle names just as a nod to grannys etc Grin. Our surname is also one syllable, so its all very short. In fact thinking about it all my dds have very short names.

babycham42 · 07/10/2011 21:41

Anna is lovely but I like Annie even more.

nonsenses · 07/10/2011 23:49

It is slightly dull but i do like it very much.

iskra · 08/10/2011 20:14

Wiggles, I'm Anna Clare!
