From Wolf to Hamish and back again. There have been others inbetween.

We were set on Hamish. I am having doubts, will he become Ham/Hammy/Egg?

We like Wolf. Not sure it will suit a red head as the last 2 have been.

I like a bit crazy.

I feel duty bound to point out that dd2 isn't even referred to by her birth name.

Ginny is awkward beyond belief when it comes to naming her twenty seven children.

oops sorry if I've confirmed the Mish nn argument!!!. We liked Hamish because it seemed to suit a male of all ages (I tried imagining a baby, a young man and an old gent with the name) and we have a little bit of Scottish heritage in DH side of the family. Seamus and James also mean the same as Hamish or should I say Hamish is a varient of James (as is Seamus).

I like hamish but my nn is ham (I am not a hamish or a boy Grin) so I'm biased!

I also love wolf and can see why you like it but it's one of those names someone might have to live up to.

I love Merlin. Wilfred is back on. Red for short.

I agree with everyone else, Wolf is really quite awful, even if you do like a bit crazy. Hamish is cool with the celtic heritage, and probably more likely to end up with a nn that has nothing to do with his name. Remus is quite interesting, not m cup of tea, but I don't think it is particularly HPish (different if you decided to call your ds Lupin, but then I think that would be more of a girl's name, as it is a flower).

Earshot i am heartened by the fact you like Wolf.

I used to like Fox. However there was an awful incident with the the dog and a fox and it has put me off. Shame really.

oh I like Wilfred. I like Abraham too, but here that would almost certainly become Abe. Was Bram Stoker an Abraham?

It is still IN her name. Just second name now.

If it is a girl then she is Dorothy. No exceptions.

Liking Abraham/Bram. Merlin makes even Wolf look almost sensible!

Wilfred okay - quite like Wilf but really don't like Red, which sounds too try-hard-alternative imho.

Love the list - especially Beau's nn! :)

I'm not sure you should trust my judgement Grin as I get serious mad woman looks after I tell anyone DD's name after which they say 'oh hasn't DS got a lovely name'. (DS got the solid name everyone loves but I'm secretly still not that into it and DD got the crazy name that everyone else hates but DH, DS and I absolutely love)

I was going to suggest fox but wasn't sure if that really was too crazy. Lovely for a red head. Come live round my way, no-one will bat an eyelid at wolf Grin

It does a bit doesn't it? I have to have Octavius in there somewhere, he is number 8.

Hector bit too similar to Hugo? My bil is Fergus and i love it but dh does not.
