Anya? Love it or hate it?

I think I like it but am hormonal bag and can't be trusted with these things, I think I like Anya Grace.

I really like India, Annabelle and Arabella but they're all becoming a little bit too popular or so i'm told we don't know any.

Not sure of sex so will be back with boys names.

I hate it but then All the Anya/Anja's (4 I grew up in Denmark not that unusual there) ive known have been spoilt lil madams that felt they were gods gift to the world and I cant get past that

I'm not keen but I think that's only because I've only known one - I taught her as a 12 going on 18 year old with an ASBO and she was an absolute nightmare.

As a name I think I think it's rather pretty but I just can't divorce it from that girl.

I don't think India is popular? I only know one and she's 12.

I also only know one Arabella who is 8.

Annabelle is reasonably popular in some areas and social circles. I teach in a private school and you can rely on their being an average of 2-3 Annabelles per year. But it's hardly Olivia or Isabella and they generally settle quite happily into being Annabelle, Bella, Annie and Anna!

I like it, don't think I've ever met one in real life but it's a nice, simple pretty name. India is nice too, Annabelle and Arabella a bit excessively girly for my taste. Annabel with that spelling is better IMO.

DD is at girls prep and we only have 1 Annabelle and an India who just left but my friend says her dds prep has an India or 2 in every year ditto Annabelle. No Arabellas but i'm conscious we may have an influx as people look for alternates to Isabella thanks to the Twilight series. Baby naming is so hard, just spoke to my mum, she laughed at dhs boys name choice so i shan't be including her in any more name conversations.

Anya Grace would be fine :) If you like it, use it.

I love it, I've known two Anya's and they're both lovely and very feminine. It's just a bit quirky and different.

My cousin likes Enya - although it reminds me of the singer. Not a bad thing but just a bit to prominent as it's the only time I've heard the name.

Of all the names you like, none of them are that high up the National Office of Statistics list for 2010. In fact, only Annabelle appears in the top 100. So if it is only a question of how 'common' the names are, I wouldn't let that stop you using any of the names.

It's a lovely shortlist btw - I can see why you're having trouble choosing!!

Love it. I didn't choose it because I thought it was too popular 9 years ago. Havent' heard of one since, apart from the one who made me think, oh 'that name is becoming popular now'.

Love Anya but probably India more so.
I would like Annabelle if known as Annie.
Not keen on Arabella.

Thank you, I am pleased with our girls list in the past we have really struggled with girls names. I guess the best thing is to wait and see what she looks like if she is a she.

Now boys names[arrgh] dh loves Roman, I'm going to need some convincing I like Luca and Theo.

I love Anya Grace - very pretty and feminine but will carry her through adulthood as well.

I like it but not allowed to use it due to the Buffy the Vampire Slayer character.

Anya and Luca were my baby names, so I love them both (even though when DD eventually popped out I decided that she didn't 'look' like an Anya, so I changed it. After a 36 hour labour, DH decided not to argue with me!)

On your boys shortlist, I think all 3 are good too (helpful aren't I?!) but I agree that Theo probably has the edge, with Luca second and Roman third!!

I love Anya. Lovely, feminine and not overused. Works in many languages too - I know several German ones.

Have you looked at unusual Irish names? My friend has an Aine (on-ya)

i also love the name Tadgh (tag) which is the irish for Timothy

I had a Polish friend called Anya, her full name was Anna Maria.

I know 3 Anya's - all 5 and under. It seems quite popular round here.

deburca i'm Irish but we live in UK and would love an Irish name but dh says absolutely not and he has a point, we have a very unusual surname that needs to be spelled out everytime, dh says in they will have a massive PITA spelling their whole name all the time.

Dds middle name is Aisling I snuck it in when the registrar asked us any other names. Love Tadgh but Dh would never go for it.
