Help. DH wants to call DS Boris

It started as a cute, joke name for the bump / unborn baby which is great. But it has really stuck and DH wants to call him Boris when he is born.

Its wrong isn't it?

Bizarrely I think it's a great name! But I agree it might be hard to live with (unless your DS has Russian ancestry).

You could do a "full Johnson" and call him Alexander MN Boris.

Agree Boz is awful. And no Russian ancestry (although I do have a cossack style hat somewhere which might help!)

I suppose it is different but it just seems like such a bulky name for a tiny baby!

All you who like it would you honestly name YOUR child it though?

CaptainMartinCrieff · 12/08/2011 20:35

Good Lord no! But if I met a little Boris I would think 'Aawwww'.

I think MrsR makes a very good point.

And what is wrong with Isaac, Hugo, Milo, Rafe, Lucas, Xavier and every other name I like and DH has vetoed I really don't know :(

Oh No, please No. :(

Ivortheengine8 · 12/08/2011 21:21

Catgirl, my DH is the same, I have reeled off lists of boys names which he doesnt like (and yet has come up with nothing himself) We have decided on a girl's name if it's a girl but I have given up with the boy's names and left it to him to come up with some!

Ivortheengine8 · 12/08/2011 21:21

....and I am nearly 31 weeks and running out of time...

catgirl1976 · 12/08/2011 21:21

:) we only had girls names too! but he is going to be a boy apparantly. but NOT a boy called Boris I hope!

Boris is not a name.

It is an affliction.

Ivortheengine8 · 12/08/2011 21:22

catgirl, say you fancy Boris Johnson and then he might change his mind Grin

EdithWeston · 12/08/2011 21:24

You could always try getting hold of "Boris the Spider" by The Who, and hope it puts him off...

LetThereBeRock · 12/08/2011 22:51

I rather like it. I worked with a lovely three year old Boris in my childcare days, and it really suited him.

MrsRhettButler · 12/08/2011 22:56

Oooh, there's nothing wrong with any of your suggestions catgirl I especially like Milo.

My dp is the same, he vetoed EVERY single name I came up with so I then just picked one and said 'this is what I'm going with, if you don't like it find one that we both like, I'm done looking' so he found one that I don't like but he loves and now we are at loggerheads with 'our' names.....

We have 3 weeks to sort it!

lagrandissima · 12/08/2011 23:00

Sorry, but I just can't over that blond-haired muppet from Eton.

lagrandissima · 12/08/2011 23:00

should have read 'get over'!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 12/08/2011 23:01

I can't see that Boris is any sillier than Milo which is an extremely silly name.

FWIW I like Milo, but just can't disassociate Boris from the bumbling buffoon of the same name who waved a broom this week but did little other with it.
