Lydia, Tessa or Susannah

When dd was born, Lydia was the second choice and thus reserved for dd2 if there was one. Now I'm pg I'm a bit sick of Lydia. Love the name but feels like we've been there, done that IYSWIM.

So we've also come up with Tessa and Susannah...

What d'ya think? :)

Prefer Lydia

NadiaWadia · 14/06/2011 12:19

Susannah is great! Plus a wide variety of short names can be made from it. (Sukey, Susie, even Anna, etc.)

What about Susannah Lydia?

IHeartKingThistle · 14/06/2011 12:21

We had Tessa on our list if DS was a girl, love it.

PatriciatheStripper · 14/06/2011 12:28

I like Susannah.

How about Lynda? Quite similar to Lydia, but perhaps a bit fresher.

swash · 14/06/2011 14:19

I love all three names. Lydia was on my list, Susannah was top of my list (vetoed by DH who now says he really likes the name!) and Tessa/Tess is great. I wouldn't have called my dd Tessa because I prefer full names on bc and Theresa isn't pretty.

swash · 14/06/2011 14:19

Susannah Tess would be perfect!

jojodancer · 14/06/2011 14:34

I completely understand, all our shortlisted names from DD1 have been vetoed for DD2!

Lydia is 2nd on our list now

Quite like Susannah, not keen on Tessa though.

MerryMarigold · 14/06/2011 14:36

I like Lydia and Susannah. Tessa is a wee bit twee and sounds short for something.

MerryMarigold · 14/06/2011 14:37

oh, short for THERESA Blush. (I've read thread now)

GwendolineMaryLacey · 14/06/2011 14:42

:( I really like Tessa. It isn't twee

I'm not very good at taking opinions on board :o. We wouldn't use Theresa, would be Tessa on bc.

You can learn a lot from Lydia!!

If I'd had girls, one would have had Lydia :)

jojodancer · 14/06/2011 14:50

Gwendoline if you like it then sod anyone else's opinion and use whatever you want!

I had a wobble on our name-choice for DD1 after asking for opinions on here and getting 50/50 feedback.. am so glad we stuck with it though as it absolutely suits DD now

GwendolineMaryLacey · 14/06/2011 14:57

I know but what I want is everyone to say "ah, three such beautiful names" :o :o

You're organised!!

Lydia was our 2nd choice too, but luckily dd suited our first choice. I do love it though, but too similar for me to use.

I prefer Tess to Tessa, I don't know why it's only one letter!

I like Susannah, and think the length would go well with your dd's name.

I feel like we need to have a short name, as dd has a short name

catinthehat2 · 14/06/2011 15:20

Lydia
Lydia
Lydia

GwendolineMaryLacey · 14/06/2011 15:34

Oh God I was hoping you wouildn't see me here and think I was bonkers. Thinking positive, remember! We debate baby names for fun anyway :o

Susannah was the replacement for Lydia but I threw Tessa into the mix yesterday and DH jumped on it. All because he will not entertain the idea of Verity

harassedinherpants · 14/06/2011 16:10

Hmmm my post was eaten!!

What does that make me then??!! Grin I'm here too!

Dh is coming up with boys names and I'm coming up with girls, I'm right though!! We have dd and he has another dd from previous relationship so the chances of a boy aren't good Grin.

No boys names for you??

I loved Verity, but meeting someone called that has put me off.

ShoutyHamster · 14/06/2011 17:15

Like Susannah and Tessa better than Lydia.

Think Tessa is cool BUT Susannah offers a better choice of nn.

Hmm, Vanessa?

ShoutyHamster · 14/06/2011 17:19

You can see that I am thinking that enlarging Tessa into a name that at least begins with V might help you to come to terms with no Verity... eek ignore me.

You could of course go mad and start insisting that only the name Clarettina or Dudlestia will do, right up until wk 39 - at which point your DH will be begging for a Verity Grin

PrincessScrumpy · 14/06/2011 19:52

DD is Lydia and I love it. Really suits her. She was going to be Poppy and I'm so glad we changed it once we saw her. I also like Tessa. I'm pg again and we really like Lyra but think it's too similar.

smartyparts · 14/06/2011 19:56

Love Lydia, but am biased as I know one - gorgeous name. She's known as Lydie which I think is a lovely shortening.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 14/06/2011 19:56

Clarettina! That's it! :o

Ah well, I have a few months to think about it, and it'll probably be a boy anyway and I can't think of any boys' names...

mintymellons · 14/06/2011 19:58

Lydia is the best, but not mad on any of them, sorry.

Susannah puts me in a mind of a posh middle aged woman and I just think Tessa is dull (although strangely I don't mind Tess!).

Good luck!

flowerld · 15/06/2011 14:03

Lydia by far

Hedwig3 · 15/06/2011 14:21

Tessa, easily.
