Here's the latest list of DD girls names. Not really attached to any of them (more DH and I kinda agree on these) so feel free to do your worst Smile

Juliet
Aurelia
Marianna
Jasmin
Sylvie
Helena
Maria

Need to get Dh to make a decision so opinions welcome!

Definitely Maria, I love it!

MuffinMouse · 15/04/2011 21:50

Me too! It's currently my fave but DH wonders if it's too ordinary... (He has no idea of the top 10/trends or otherwise). He also prefers Marie...

Love Marianna, quite like Maria and Juliet, Juliet makes me think of R&J, but other than that no immediate connotations I can think of
I'm not sure what it is about Aurelia that I don't like, there's just something that makes my face scrunch up
Don't like Sylvie or Helena
Jasmin is alright, don't like it or dislike it really

DesertOrchid · 15/04/2011 21:52

Think Sylvie and Maria (or Marie) would both be lovely.

olympialimpet · 15/04/2011 21:52

My favourites are

Sylvie & Helena
Juliet is also very pretty

Not so keen on the rest

Jojay · 15/04/2011 21:52

I love Juliet.

All nice names though.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2011 21:53

Helena is lovely.

I like Marianne rather than Marianna.

Like Sylvie too.

MuffinMouse · 15/04/2011 21:54

Thanks everyone. It hasn't narrowed it down much yet....

If it helps - DS is Christian

Yes, Marianne is lovely, but it is DH's sister - hence the change. We were thinking of Marianna known as Marie or Maria???

Oooh I'm with you MuffinMouse, I prefer Maria. Marie to me sounds quite ordinary!

Maria's also a really good fit with Christian, IMO.

pilates · 15/04/2011 22:24

Helena is my favourite

How about Louisa?

Jokat · 15/04/2011 22:30

I like Aurelia best, then Maria, then Helena, then Jasmin, agree that there should be an e on the end of that. Not sure about Juliet. Don't like Marianna and can't stand Sylvie.

Aurelia is just lovely, it's unusual and everybody would still know how to pronounce it, it is beautiful!

Tigerbomb · 15/04/2011 22:38

I hate Maria. I grew up with the name Maria - I don't use it now though. I was nicknamed Diarrhea and then later on Gonorrhea by my fellow schoolmates. Sorry I know this probably doesn't really help but I wished my parents had thought about potential nicknames when naming me.

I like Aurelia best

LionsnTigersnBears · 15/04/2011 22:40

Helena and Sylvie are lovely.

yousankmybattleship · 15/04/2011 22:40

Jasmin is the worst, but I don't like any of them. If I had to pick one it would be Juliet.

Cloudydays · 15/04/2011 22:49

I like Helena, Maria and Marianna (though I like Marianne much better)

I think Maria might seem just a little 'much' with Christian, though, seeing it's the name of Christ's mother :) If that suits you, though, they're both lovely names.

surprise · 15/04/2011 22:51

Juliet is my favourite, Sylvie second, Marianna third. Don't really like any of the others.

CarefulWithThatAxeEugene · 15/04/2011 22:57

Another variation is Mariana ...

they are both a bit like marijuana though .... Grin

Or there's Marina. A cross between Marianna and Maria?

MelinaM · 15/04/2011 23:15

Aurelia is beautiful, love Juliet and Helena tooSmile Don't like Jasmin or Marianna at all I'm afraid.

ValiumBandwitch · 15/04/2011 23:18

Juliet and Sylvie are lovely. I like Marianne more than Marianna.

argylesocks · 16/04/2011 11:47

What about Marisol or Mariela since they seem to fit in with your other suggestions?

I've always thought Marisol was lovely and I have a friend Mariela who gets called Mari (like Marie with emphasis on the M rather than the ie) and I think both are beautiful.

Also they go nicely with Christian.

nickelbaalamb · 16/04/2011 11:53

I think Maria goes well with Christian (but it migth sound too religious...)

or I like Jasmin, but I don't knwo it it works with Christian.

or Helena, but I'm biased cos my middle name is Helen.
It does go with Christian

livinlavidaloca · 16/04/2011 15:54

I definately like Jasmin best - very feminine, will age well with your child, classic yet quite trendy name and goes well with your sons name which is also classic yet trendy - I have only ever met one Jasmine - she was a lovely little girl.
