When i was growing up, i hated my name because i was the only child in my family without an english name, i made up names for myself and yearned for one, my dad felt pity on me after much threateningbegging from me that he gave me one when i was 7, i was not impressed[
there were 3 girls i already knew with the same name but it was the best catholic name he could find, i shortened it, it suits me and i love it,used it from that day

As for my traditional name, it happens to be one of the most beautiful unusual names in my country and my father couldn't have done better, and now that i live in europe it is exotic, i thanked my dad last time i saw him,so, if you had to choose your own name, what would you have named yourself?if you are happy with the one you have,fine..

My first name is Sophie which I love and have always liked it. Middle name is Eleanor which i hated soo much when i was growing up but dont mind it as much now, not overly keen on it tho.

I wish I did like my name, BlessedAssurance, but it's nice to hear that others do. I think. Hmm I do wonder, though, what made it become such a popular name having gone through the 70s, 80s and half the 90s without ever coming across another.

When I was younger I hated my name as thought it was to 'old-ladyish' and not v common at the time. Also, a bit later on, due to a certain song which thankfully alot of people have forgotten about now (you might be able to guess what it is lol!). Now I like it as everyone says it's pretty and suits me and it's more in vogue for babies now so more common. :)
