I love Alice but I can't use it because of issues with our surname... so I was wondering if people could suggest similar sounding names? many thanks!

Alicia? Or is that too similar? :)

Katharine
Emily
Rebekah
Elinor
Matilda (thinking medieval here)
Joan/Jane?
Laura/Laurel
Mary/Marie/Maria
Una

I see Frances suggested - love Frances, so pretty, classic and uncomplicated!

We have an Alice.

I am Katherine :) Never really thought about our names going together but maybe they do.

I like Josephine. Just asked DH again and he said he still hates it.

DD's middle name is Charlotte which I think has quite a similar feel.

I am an Alice Cooper!

Although I was not born Cooper and I didn't change my name until I had been married for 8 years (and was 8 months pg). You know what? Nobody cares. One or two comments, but no one under 25 really knows who Alice Cooper the singer is.

HollyGoHeavily · 25/10/2010 14:10

DD1 is called Charlotte and Alice is on our short-list for DD2 along with

Lauren
Esme
Bronwen
Meredith
Caitlin

We have had the same short-list now for months and can't choose because we love them all - I am hoping inspiration strikes in the delivery room :)

I went to school with A.Pratt I'm guessing yours is similar?

Friend with Alice also has a Lucie, which I think is a lovely name. Otherwise Jessica or Ella get my vote :)

benheldy · 24/01/2013 21:19

What the shite is DD DH DS etc?
And dont say "Darling Husband" because that is bent as fuck.

gallicgirl · 24/01/2013 21:25

Go read it.

I think Alice is a simple, yet pretty name. Elsie is gorgeous! How about Daisy?

mystiquesonya · 25/01/2013 18:32

I haven't read all posts so not sure if already mentioned but how about Alison? Lovely name and hardly used these days.

cosykins · 25/01/2013 18:41

Lucy

DessieLou · 25/01/2013 19:00

I was going to say Ariella but guess that would have the same issue! How about Elena (elaine-a), felicity, Francesca, penny, safiya, Georgie, lexi... Ummmmm.... Nope, I'm out! :-)
Could you not change the A to an E? Elise? Elice? Ellis?

millymae · 25/01/2013 19:02

I've got a real thing about Sybil at the moment - I love it. How about that?

Bearcrumble · 25/01/2013 19:08

Jeanne? Dora? Louise?

Also think of the names mentioned Hester has a similar feel.

MadBusLady · 25/01/2013 21:20

Other names that "sparkle" to me:

Cecilia

Phoebe
Felicity
Raffaela

MadBusLady · 25/01/2013 21:21

Or Felicia, even more similar.

RobinSparkles · 25/01/2013 21:27

I wonder what the OP went for in the end? Her DD will probably be 2 now!

Caitycat · 25/01/2013 21:28

We have an Alice, the only other name we both liked was Freya. Hope you find something you love, it's so hard!
