the defence wants us to ignore certain people, and listen to others, depending on what is being said

Losing people, revenge, bitter, hates being wronged. she likes control maybe NPD. Funny childhood with an emotionaless mother and enabling Father.
Her mind doesn't work like the rest if us so could be anything.

where is that known? @Blueyshift

Confusedbylifeingeneral · 18/06/2025 21:07

Did she not say something to that effect about her mum?

Velvet, it’s hard to tell but you seem to think maybe she might have done it…?

Big load of resentment on a slow boil in a pressure cooker.

😁

Velvet is not the only one.

Come to my town, and the others close by if you really want to hear people who think she did it.

I stand by the woman I met in Leongatha who said "She's ruined it for the rest of us!"

Resentment and thinking she’s smarter than others.

Civilservant · 19/06/2025 07:15

That lady’s quote is a classic, @Dustyblue !

Something that struck me is the escape of Erin’s ex, Simon. Perhaps after a past incident.

On MN, posters often advocate for having firm boundaries with difficult people. An extreme and thankfully rare case, but it struck me that Erin’s ex Simon did that in this case, and survived.

Did those form part of the evidence submitted to the court?

No I’m pretty sure they didn’t.
i haven’t seen that article before and if it’s to believed it does shed a lot more light on her and her personality.

if you were planning to kill a bunch of people- wouldn’t you just use all the death cap mushrooms you had? Why limit yourself ti an exact dose when your goal is 💀

I think it's the other way around. The idea is that she was checking she had enough for five lethal doses.

I think this is likely. Especially if Simon's "mystery illness" was in fact a previous attempt but she didn't use enough

It is also creepy that she seemed to have a fascination for adulterating foods with mushrooms - even edible ones. Like the drying and grinding down mushrooms and putting the powder into chocolate brownies.

It is also very odd for someone who has claimed a huge aversion to hospitals and medical care during the case that she has fabricated lots of illnesses for herself with different types of cancer, biopsies described and weight loss surgery. Not to mention applying for and being accepted onto a Nursing & Midwifery degree programme just a few months before the deaths.

I wonder if she does have some form of Factitious Disorder (Munchausens) or some other form of personality order/disordered thinking).

velvetandsatin · 19/06/2025 09:48

I don't think Death Caps were involved at all in prior attempts. Simon had intestinal problems, severe enough for him to spend 16 days in a coma and have several surgeries - but not the liver and kidney effects of Death Caps.

Wrenjeni · 19/06/2025 12:26

I wonder what she used for Simon and whether we’ll ever find out

Even if the meal had enough for five lethal doses- she’d have no way of knowing they would each eat their whole portion. 🤔

Gail ate only half of hers - and still died, hideously.

FeralWoman · 19/06/2025 14:48

Maybe the dose was calculated on her XH’s weight, and then multiplied by 5. The women were smaller than the men so they didn’t need to eat a whole serve to get a lethal dose.

Northernrunnerbean · 19/06/2025 16:56

The fact that she obviously has a keen interest in true crime, so much so as to have joined a Facebook group dedicated to it, makes me think that she has carefully calculated all of this, even down to the possibility of getting away (literally) with murder on the grounds that the jury may decide they have reasonable doubt... Maybe it's all a strange sort of game to her, how far she can weave a web of lies and deception.

It was suggested nightshade at one point but I can't remember where I heard that.

Dustyblue · 20/06/2025 05:30

Simon is something of an unknown in all of this. All we know for sure is that he was hospitalised previously with a very severe illness with no known cause.

EP was initially charged with prior attempts on his life but the Prosecution dropped those charges on Day 1 of the trial. I guess we'll never know.
