Can I have your opinion on my paintings

Restarted making art over the last month or so. Just starting out with watercolor paints and really loving them. These 3 pictures are my latest work. Can you give me your honest opinions please.

They all look good to me, but particularly like the zebra.

They're nice, but not anything I would display or pay for if I'm honest.

But still a trillion times better than I can do, so keep going.

I think they look lovely, in particular the two animals - the colours work well and are pretty and striking :)

Thank you. When it's my own work all I see are the mistakes or things I should have done differently.

Obviously, art is subjective so won't be everyones taste.

They’re not to my taste (as you say art is subjective) but you’re very good and I think lots of people would love them.

I like the animals (not so keen on belle) ..but I have seen other similar paintings. ...having said that I wish I could paint that well.

Love the zebra the colours are really soothing

Like pps, I really like the zebra. The flow of the stripes and background harmonise really well. The leopard is technically competent but doesn't have the flow of the zebra. The Disney one just looks like a copied picture - you haven't really added anything to the original image.

I wish i could capture my thoughts in painting or drawing half as well as you have here. These pictures are full of colour and are fun. Really lovely op.

They're good - you are talented OP, I particularly like the leopard's spots.
In terms of critical feedback I think the leopard body is too pale - he looks like a floating head which is a shame, and the muzzle is slightly off - perhaps ears would have balanced it out?

The zebra colours look great but it's anatomically jarring - the cheek/eye positioning doesn't work and it's face looks too bulgy.

I think getting the underlying anatomical structure accurate with this kind of painting is really hard and for many viewers it might not matter but just my thoughts.

I agree with the constructive criticism mentioned above (and tbh these aren't my taste), but I love the colours are great and they are to the taste if a lot of people. Keep practising and you'd have a market I'm sure!

Yes the princess is just a copied image that I did for my niece as it is her favourite, and at this point in my learning of techniques with watercolor I find it helpful to have something to copy.

The leopard is done from a photo, that I have added m own take on it, so in that respect I'm most pleased with that one as it is all my own work.

Thank you @WaltzingBetty I agree that the animals structure is definitely important in helping the final image look correct.

I will keep working and hopefully improving.

Not keen on the princess but like the animals. I would carry on developing this style. Enjoy your art OP.

I think you’ve got talent, and the zebra is the best, but to be honest the subject matter isn’t great, I wouldn’t display any of them, not because of your skills, but because of the subject matter.

I’d also say they are a bit flat, particularly belle, so I’d also focus on depth and movement, which would help.

Anyone saying it wouldn't be their choice of art, can I ask what sort of subjects you do like, to help me expand the sort of things I paint.

I like abstracts, landscapes & botanical imagery. Not really into animals or Disney - but there are plenty who are so don't let me put you off! You could maybe do some pet portraits?

@SugarHour thanks, all info is useful. At the moment I'm just creating for me and family members. (The princess and zebra were for my nieces and leopard for mil)

Years ago, at uni I always did abstract in oils but watercolour is a very different and new medium for me, so it's good to try different things.

This is a succulent in pencil crayons that I did last week.

I also like botanical imagery, and things like charcoal of people that are interesting and thought provoking. Landscapes in the same vein, either colourful and vibrant, or interesting in a dark realistic way. I also like animals but not as the ones you posted.

The flower has a good shape but the colours I am not a fan of, I’m sorry.

So for example the art I’ve bought for my house, a very old original oil painting of a man by a stream, painting. A large framed abstract print of a stag done by a well known artist. Four different charcoal pictures of women in different poses, three by the same artist, one is about three foot tall and by a different artist.. Three cartoon like prints from a very famous artist Of children playing, Ie in a play ground, in a fair ground, in a field etc. Two oil painting originals by a Chinese artist of blossom trees. Four prints of animals done by another famous artist, in very abstract but very colourful Ie cow, stag, birds etc,

So all very different, but all very eye catching in different ways.

I love it all, but animal ones are my favorite.

Again with the botanical picture op, it's nice, but I'm sad to say nothing really special. People are being nice, but I'm being honest because that's what you asked for, unless you came on here just looking for validation.

You can do pretty pictures - but the kind of pretty pictures they do in high school. By all means don't give up, but don't quit your day job.

I'm a bit confused about Belle. Faceless woman with blood spatters? Or is that how my screen is set up?
