Stitch and bitch #7. Hanging by a thread

Hi I’m new to sewing, I bought a machine from Lidl 20 years ago on a whim but only really got it out to mend simple things and make face masks during covid.
I’ve just started following ‘Solana Sews’ on instagram and attempted one of her tops. I’ll try and add the finished item. My student daughter loves it. I now feel that I may be able to attempt some striped linen trousers (in the style of Tom’s Trunks) is there anywhere you could suggest finding a pattern suitable, possibly with a follow along tutorial? I’m also finding fabric very pricey, is there a good place to buy linens and cotton?

I don't have any pattern suggestions like the Tom's Trunks because I haven't made anything like that, but I'm sure the ladies here will have some ideas. The top you've made is lovely.

Fabric wise the cheapest options are Pound Fabrics and Poundametre but you need to choose carefully and check the fabric composition. They do occasionally have linens - I once got some lovely checked linen for £12 for three metres but haven't seen anything like that since!

Apart from the pockets I think the love notions allegro is close to Tom’s trunks. I’ve made them in linen and they are some of my favourites. You could amend the pattern to make inseam pockets.
