OMG i didn't know that {pretending it has been there all along}

i've seen him[kaffe] on t.v he seems really nice {in a colourful eccentric way}

lucykate is blogger working for you?
i looked at the new sewing mag link it does look really cool but was a bit shocked at the pricetag!

lucykate · 02/08/2008 15:55

blogger has been fine for me today, price tag of mag subscription is purely a reflection of the high class projects going into it

Went into Chester today (planning another Treasure Hunt for TreasureDays) & found a good 2nd hand bookshop. Had a good old mooch for stuff suitable to cut up for my Scrabble tile ideas - BUT the best books were too nice to contemplate cutting up!

What I should have done was maybe ask the owner if he had any totally battered things not worth more than pence - doh!

meridian · 02/08/2008 19:57

whizzz- what sort of books are you looking for to tear up? I have a heap of old childrens books in the shed... I could send you some pages from them... also you can try your locak library and ask when they are having thier next book sale.. as there are always thigns going for 20p or 5p for a paperback... I did that with the Tolkien book I have been doing my painted pages on....

suzy- viva la crafting revolution! we witter on from time to time but its really a nice safe friendly thread without the bitchiness that some of the other threads can be rife with.... but mostly we talk craft and kids and what keeps us from crafting.. the kid bit... though i'm sure we are all dark and mysterious revolutionists..

Meri - I was after 'vintage-y' kids books with illustrations (I thought of illustrations like fairies, animals, flowers etc might look good), any nice text, maybe music scores etc - the idea being that I then use the paper to stick onto a wooden scrabble tile seal & glaze. I actually only need a few pages to chop up. I want to make cufflinks too - so maybe some 'man' designs.
I'm getting really excited with the idea to be honest.....got so many ideas whizzing round!!

Whizzz · 02/08/2008 20:06

Meri - if you have any pages spare, I'll happily send you a finished necklace in return if you like

Miaou · 02/08/2008 23:40

Mmm, I love the idea of doing stuff with old books, so much so that I went into a couple of charity shops to look for some (idea pincher that I am!), but then persuaded myself out of it because I have so much else to do!

I have, at the moment - one pair of curtains (half-finished)
One knitted bag (half finished)
One evening bag (half finished)
One cardigan (half finished)

Bit of a theme here ...

Oh, and hello suzywong, nice to see you!!!

LK, I fainted a bit at the price of the first copy, but then saw the subscription rate and thought that was a lot more reasonable, though I am a little unsure of subscribing until I have seen the first issue ... hmmm (can't wait to see it though!)

I might try later to sort things out it depends what we are up to today... if not will definitly try to drag the box out on monday and have a rifle through for you....

Dior - you look great! well done on the weight loss, i wish i was a stone lighter but have no willpower in fact even the idea of dieting makes me hungry!

ranting · 03/08/2008 20:32

Ha I was right, Dior you are gorgeous. Didn't imagine you would have a fringe though for some reason. Do we all have a fringe?

Whizzz · 03/08/2008 20:58

OO you are glam Dior!
I struggled to find a decent pic of me to put on facebook - the only ones I had seemed to me drinking alcohol or in fancy dress!

mistypeaks · 03/08/2008 21:34

Oooh Dior you're loads younger than I imagined!! And skinnier and prettier (you gave the impression you were a right old munter and I believe all I hear )
Not sure about whether we all have fringes . . I have 50% fringe (full fringe on right getting gradually less fringe to left - some trendy asymetric thing)
I try to avoid pics of me tbh. usually too p**d or fat or ugly or angry . . . . .

I was at one point considering being brave enough to suggest a meet up - but now you're prettier than me I may not bother

That's only because I'm the size of a pygmy!! Besides the way I'm eating at the moment - it's only a matter of time . . . . Once you're past 30 you can't eat like I do and get away with it.
