I'm a "naive artist" and paint for fun. Don't know if it's totally rubbish or not. Would appreciate some honest opinions!

I wouldn't put it on my walls but the colours are nice.

murasaki · 08/02/2025 22:52

It might work in a book as illustrations, i could see that, but not on my wall, sorry.

The worst thinly veiled comment ever?

GoldMoon · 08/02/2025 22:52

Not something I'd buy , but it's striking.

Enough4me · 08/02/2025 22:55

Smaller and repeated sequences would make a fun wrapping paper or cushion design.

Beeebon · 08/02/2025 22:56

I quite like the design but not the colours
I would like it neutral

Catsinaflat · 08/02/2025 22:58

I like them and would definitely put on my wall.

Hawkmoth · 08/02/2025 22:58

I love the orange one. They all have a great graphic quality while at the same time being quite emotive.

MiddlingMarch · 08/02/2025 22:58

I like the ones with closed eyes.

Greekcatmug · 08/02/2025 23:00

I really like it but it’s very similar to a well known artists work. Margo in Margate . I have one of her prints and thought this straight away.

PickAChew · 08/02/2025 23:01

It's an eye catching style. Would work well as a book illustration. Do you paint anything else?

MuseumAssistant · 08/02/2025 23:02

I work in a museum with an art gallery where local artists exhibit their work.

Your work is good but it's a very very common theme/style at the moment amongst amateur artists.

We're trying to move away from it for a bit of variety.

Yes, she's great. I like her work.

I actually started to draw like this before knowing her work.

She's doing very well.

I like it. It would lend itself well to fabric design.

Greekcatmug · 08/02/2025 23:07

@GBooArt i would try and change it up a bit and put a different slant on it. Although it’s nice it’s just too similar but if you like creating it and it brings you joy and you’re not trying to sell then what’s the harm? She has been around for a while so if you were trying to sell definitely change it up.

Yeah same.. I've got a couple of their prints, which I love, but it's remarkably similar.

NewBrightonEel · 08/02/2025 23:15

I love it!

Branleuse · 08/02/2025 23:19

I like them. I especially like the 3 together.

I like the set of three but am not so keen on the other two.

GBooArt · 08/02/2025 23:25

Yes, I have them for sale. I've sold three in 2 years. Hardly a profitable enterprise. Was genuinely interested in people's views as I haven't sold many! And didn't say at any time they were for sale. But thanks for your comment.

Having them for sale and painting for fun are not mutually exclusive, either!
