It’s just taking me to the general Lisa Corbo page - can you post a picture?

NutellaEllaElla · 21/12/2024 17:38

Ah @twobluechickens here’s a photo

With the folds at the front? Looks interesting! Will have a think.

NutellaEllaElla · 21/12/2024 19:29

I think it has a tab pulling it up at the front?

PickAChew · 21/12/2024 20:44

Yep, looks like it has some sort of strap or sash gathering the front up. I'm sure one of the contestants on this year's GBSB did that wit some of her makes. Ailsa?

PickAChew · 21/12/2024 22:08

I'm sure I've seen something like that in a Burda mag, BTW.

Dont, whatever you do, Google harnessed skirt 😱🚿

kittykarate · 22/12/2024 18:59

I've found add on straps called 'skirt hikes' that you can use to hitch up a long skirt.

Yalz · 22/12/2024 23:43

I used to work in a convent school. A couple of the nuns had something similar to hitch up their habits when cycling.

kittykarate · 23/12/2024 11:41

I've made a Ellie and Mac 'i love 90s' dress in some pound a metre stretch velvet. It's got a lot of eating room. ( will be worn with tights on Xmas day, my bruised shins will put anyone off their turkey legs)

Oooh I’ve been planning to make an I love the 90s for ages so I’m pleased to see yours @kittykarate

Love it. I used to wear an almost identical one when I was pregnant in the 90s - backless with DMs!

CrimsonAlligator · 24/12/2024 01:31

I love that @kittykarate! And great fabric choice too.

Was the velvet difficult to sew?

kittykarate · 24/12/2024 08:12

It was a bit squirmy to sew, depending on the direction of the nap it would either velcro together or slip apart. I did a lot of straight stitching (and unpicking) before going over the edges with my overlocker.

CrimsonAlligator · 24/12/2024 11:02

After my recent successes with the Grainline Archer and Farrow, I’ve been revisiting some of their other patterns. I was shocked by how many I had and how few I’ve used. I’m sure there’s a lesson in there somewhere about my pattern buying behaviour…

Anyway, I have now finally made a Grainline Scout Tee, nearly a decade after I bought the pattern. I’m getting strong 70s vibes from this crazy fabric, but somehow it works (at least to my eyes) for something simple like this. And as my entire wardrobe is made up of plain stuff, it seems to go with pretty much everything. May be 2024 will be the year I finally discover how to wear patterns!

I have a wild jungle print I’m planning to turn into something wearable next 😊

hope you all had a great Christmas, mine was lovely and quite low-key.

I'm back asking for advice. I want to replace my cross-body bag - it is one of those like a big purse (english version: somewhere you keep money and cards) with a pocket on the front for my phone. It is now kaputt (sad)

I would like to make one, but just something that i can put my purse and glasses and maybe tissues in it, with a pocket in the front for my phone.

Anyone got any good patterns or resources where i can look? I would like it to be zippered, not necessarily the phone pocket, but the main bag. and lined. I have some black cord material that would be excellent, if possible (can use stiffening)

Daffyyellow · 28/12/2024 16:00

@ShoAndSew maybe the mini sized Bestie bag?

PickAChew · 28/12/2024 16:46

Noodlehead patterns are supposed to be great for bags, @ShoAndSew . I made the Portland tote by Sotak patterns, last year, and the instructions were great and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. payhip.com/sotakco

PickAChew · 28/12/2024 17:37

Not sure why my post was hidden.

OperationalSupport · 28/12/2024 21:27

Glad you had a good Christmas @ShoAndSew. Mine was quiet too, as I came down with one of the lurgies currently going around.

No bag suggestions I’m afraid, but I would like to hear what projects people are planning for the new year. I don’t think I’ll bother with a ‘make 9’ this year, but my thoughts are turning towards the warmer weather. I made a ByHandLondon Anna dress in the summer and it slides back at the shoulder while wearing it - any suggestions on what pattern adjustments to make?

InMySpareTime · 28/12/2024 22:04

Project-wise, I'm making a fabric cake large enough for someone to burst out from, and some toadstools that are actually stools.
Both for theatrical purposes.
I have a few clothing plans for next year though, mostly loungewear and dungarees. Comfort is my aim, and I have a pattern drafting book that I should really put to use.

I’ve been making the I Am Patterns Sunshine jeans in the balloon leg version. Tried them on this afternoon and they are rather neat on me 😬 I did size down because I’m using a stretch denim but I’ll have a better idea of whether they’re a horror show tomorrow when I finish the waistband and dare to look in the mirror. I think I would have preferred them to have a little ease. I’m blaming Christmas overeating.

The only sewing I have planned is the Heidi jeans from Sewing Masin. I need to go through my patterns and get shot of anything I won’t make (or make again).

Jins · 28/12/2024 22:52

I’ve halted my sewing plans for 2025 as I’m absolutely determined to lose some weight before making anything new or replacing anything.

So a miserable start to 2025 is in order

PickAChew · 28/12/2024 23:23

And my plans for next year's sewing include knocking the aim to replenish my wardrobe with darker clothes on the head until the light is better and/or my eyesight improves and another go at jeans. Lots of bottoms in general. And shirts. I don't need shirts but I want shirts.

CrimsonAlligator · 28/12/2024 23:46

My ultimate goal for 2025 is to make a jacket (Simplicity 8844).

I also promised myself that I will end 2025 with less fabric in my stash than I started it with. I won’t ban myself from buying fabric, as I tried that this year. I lasted five months, but more than made up for it in the following months. Clearly that approach doesn’t work for me but I commit to buying less fabric than I use 🤞
