Oh my, the last thread got full! Hope you all find me. The title is rubbish.

Anyway. I'm off to decorate the thread.

@crochetcatsknitting they look lovely! I like the colours you've chosen.

Do they sew onto a standard plastic bauble?

Yes, they do. I rummaged in my decoration box and found two glass ones (all I had). They are slightly different sizes so I had to vary my stitches to get them to fit.

LucyLoopyLu · 19/12/2023 13:47

@crochetcatsknitting that's nice that they're slightly different!

They are the nicest ones I've seen anyone do. I might put it on my list for next year

crochetcatsknitting · 19/12/2023 13:59

Aaah, thank you so so much for saying that! I've very recently started writing up crochet patterns in an attempt to earn a bit of extra income and I was contemplating trying to do that for these, but thought there was little point given how many free patterns were online. But maybe I'll reconsider first next year. I definitely want to make myself a set and have loads of ideas for variation.

WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally · 20/12/2023 13:18

@crochetcatsknitting they are lovely. I think there are a lot of free versions of many patterns but if something has a little extra, I’m always happy to pay for that pattern. I’ve done it with some amigurumi patterns.

I’ve actually been getting some crochet done and I’ve almost unpacked and sorted my yarn stash. So a little bit early but my craft resolution for 2024 is to use up some of this ridiculous amount of scrap yarn I have! I’m also going to finish some of the WIPs that I have. I’ve counted 17 🙄 I’m going to attempt to finish 10 of them. Some of them are really small finishing touches like sewing 3 buttons onto a cowl, two are finishing two jumpers that were for DD but she’ll have outgrown them but it also includes a half finished temperature blanket.

I need to find some scrap yarn projects. I know the basket is a favourite but I’m doing a basket counting game for my brother’s partner (that’s one of the abandoned WIPs) and that’s hard on the hands so I don’t think I can do two projects that are hard on the hands. I also don’t have homes for some of these projects when they are done so I’m looking at charities I can make for and try to make some things for them to use.

GlowWine · 21/12/2023 11:09

Ohh they're perfect @crochetcatsknitting I would definitely hang them in my tree, love the colours too.

@WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally glad to hear you're settling down to some crochet and your stash is mostly unpacked! I saw this picture on SM last week and totally felt seen. "regrettable novelty yarn" will haunt me forever and then there's "from my grandma (RIP)" which I may never use.

Me, I'm wearing my purple socks today, am halfway down my Musselburgh hat (and totally in love with the yarn), and planning what to make my advent skeins into. I have already bought some base yarns for a cardigan and a wrap, so as soon as this hat is finished there will be no stopping me!

@GlowWine I think the only one of those categories I don’t have is “I’m definitely going to learn to spin”. Not because spinning isn’t on my list but just because I haven’t actually committed to buying yet Grin Pretty yarn.

GlowWine · 21/12/2023 21:27

Agreed, spinning is definitely NOT on my radar! But I've bought a winder so yarn sold in hanks suddenly looks a lot more attractive (like it needed that😉) and I won't spend whole evenings winding just one hank by hand again

wednamenov · 27/12/2023 14:13

With Christmas over, it feels like a long discos time tanning ahead to fill with projects. I'm going to do my first ever temperature blanket this year.

wednamenov · 27/12/2023 14:14

What? Long time span ahead .... don't know what discos have to do with anything.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 29/12/2023 11:05

Belated Merry Christmas and/or Season's Greetings everyone! I don't go back to school until the 8th, so although I have loads of work (and my tax return Hmm) to do, I'm hoping to fit in plenty of crafting.

I've finally managed to actually finish a project Shock. I started this ages ago for MIL, and she and FIL are coming today to stay for a few nights, so I quickly got it done as an additional Christmas present!

Love the hat @AllProperTeaIsTheft . Me and DH were both ill in the run up to Christmas so it all ended up being a bit of a rush before our visitors arrived. I had grand plans for Christmas crafting that I had to abandon. Anyway I’m looking forward to fresh plans in the New Year, not a temperature blanket though @wednamenov I made one a couple of years ago and it looks fab but it was a big commitment. Good luck with yours.

I ordered this yarn a few days ago and it’s arrived already so am itching to start!

Please help crochet the magic ring. I've watched so many YouTube videos but I just don't get it.

PepeLePew · 31/12/2023 14:43

Joining you all if I may. I am an occasional crochet-er but really would like to do more this year ahead. I'm currently making the Manderley blanket from Shelley Husband. Once that's done, I'm going to try to master knitting socks. I can just about knit but find it way harder than crochet.

Hidingthegoodchocolate · 31/12/2023 23:34

Racing to finish this scarf in 2023 (I love a deadline 😂) so I can start lots of fresh projects in the new year. The 3 yarns are from a subscription last year that I really enjoyed.

Would love to know everyone’s planned projects? I’m partway through a kit to make an Icelandic cardigan that someone from here pointed me at. A bit scared of the steeking stage but that’s a way off yet!

I found it really tricky at first, @longpathtohappiness . The video I linked upthread for crochet hearts uses it though, and I found it much easier to follow in that video, for some reason! Hang on, I'll re-link it.

Here it is @tizwozliz
I'm slow at both knitting and crocheting, but even I can make these pretty quickly!

Here it is.

Hello so pleased I found this thread! I love knitting. Does anyone feel that they have too many projects on the go? I get new yarn and get excited so I start a new project!!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 04/01/2024 12:39

Hi @flea101 ! It's not exactly that I have too many projects on the go (I tend to only allow myself 3 at a time). It's more that I just take ages to finish anything and there are so many things I'd love to make!

StillNiceCardigan · 04/01/2024 21:23

I only allow 3 projects at once too as I find any more than that stressful! I am quite speedy though - here's my progress on new sweater.

Thank you!! I tend to start procrastinate then start another!

That is gorgeous. I've never been able to crack knitting but this makes me want to give it another go.

StillNiceCardigan · 04/01/2024 22:06

@flea101 its this one https://www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=9233&cid=19

@AnneShirleysNewDress I am really enjoying knitting this one and it was much better once I realised I had the chart upside down!
