Ooops - we've filled the thread, best start a new one, eh?!

nbg - I've always had short hair (even from a toddler mom got me a 'pageboy' haircut after I cut all of mineof with a pair of scissors!!). I grew it long when I had dd2 (was growing at a rate of knots, was too tired/lazy/poor to go and get it cut). It was a frickin' nightmare growing it out though. My head just seemed to turn into a mushroom for ages. Then again I do have incredibly thick hair. It was shoulder length and quite lovely up until last year when I had it all cut off again. It was literally coming out in handfuls and clogging the plug holes up terribly. All I ever did with it was put it up in a ponytail though. Never having had long hair before I didn't really know what else to do with it. Currently its all gone a bit 'mushroom' again so I may grow it again and see if I can be a bit more adventerous this time? (DH was looking at some photos and commented on how 'fit' I was with long hair!!! - always a bonus!)
Mioau - I agree with NBG threaten to leave them. Banks hate that!!
GM - Your story is why spare keys are always in my bag when we go out. Even though DH insists we won't need them. I usually say 'well if you p* me off at least I can come home without you!!!' 2 birds - 1 stone. He behaves and I don't have to worry about key loss!!

Nbg · 20/03/2008 15:25

yes see i have very thick hair too and i've noticed now that the hormones are starting to calm down now after having ds2, my hair is falling out again. Its all over my pillow on a morning.

when i had long hair, if i had time i would curl it slightly with the straightners but it would take ages. other than that it just got tied up out the way.

Gingermonkey · 20/03/2008 15:34

at your thick hair - chrissnow and NBG. Mine is all wispy and fly away if I grow it to anything longer than a very short bob. And it's curly too, so when it's short it behaves ok and looks straight, but as soon as it hits my ears it is a proper pain in the bum . I've never had hair longer than my shoulders, amd when I had that it was because I was too poor to get it cut . On the downside of short hair - I have to get mine done every 3 weeks, which is a bit costly.

miaou grrr at banks. I hate the bank. Our bank is useless. I'd also either threaten to leave or go in to your local branch. Most of the time they do take off the fees, unless you are a serial over the overdrafter (which you're not). What gets me is it's the ones with less money that get the fees in the first place. Stupid rules.

Every morning when I wake up I think hmmm cut it short/grow it long??? My mood changes every day. Maybe I should get a wig?

Miaou · 20/03/2008 16:06

hmmm, can't threaten to leave them - I have v. poor credit rating so can't go anywhere else! Unfortunately. I have been extra careful since I got this account though and am so cross with myself for having slipped up this time . I went into the bank to plead with them but the manager is off on a cruise for Easter so I will get a decision when he gets back (which is almost certain to be "no" , grrrrr ). If he had been there I could at least have fluttered my eyelashes; looking at a bit of paper is not quite so ... emotive, is it?? . Ah well, I'll have to not spend anything chalk it up to experience I guess.

I am going to collect my wool tops this evening, I am. I really am. Otherwise I shall get no craft stuff done this weekend at all!

Gingermonkey · 20/03/2008 16:11

oh, miaou . I'm so sorry - now get your wool and get crafting to take your mind off it.

A wig, chrissnow. An excllent idea. Maybe get someone on here to knit one

and hello to chrissnow!

Nbg · 20/03/2008 20:21

Can't wait to see what you make with your new beads Meri.
Are these the Fire Mountain ones?

Miaou when the manager comes back maybe put on a sob story saying if you hadn't made the purchase that sent you overdrawn, your babies would have been nappyless and without food.

Dh has declared an online evening of football gaming with his brother so its craft time
I'll hopefully get a doll done (which incedentally is payment for my hair ) and maybe make a start on my friends dd's heart.

Oh I did make a headband earlier.
I'm going to stick on my blog tomorrow.

Miaou · 20/03/2008 20:36

ROFL NBG - I don't think he would fall for that given that the purchase that sent me over was from "Crafty Notions"

rantinghousewife · 20/03/2008 20:38

Got to tell you lot first. Sorry for hijacking but....
I GOT THE JOB I GOT THE JOB I GOT THE JOB............................!!!
I am no longer a lady of leisure but, I will now be able to afford the very best wool.

Gingermonkey · 20/03/2008 22:13

Whooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Well done RH - let's crack open the champers

OP posts:
vInTaGeVioLeT · 20/03/2008 22:28

well done ranting {what's the job?}

Tillyboo · 20/03/2008 23:09

Well done RH - What is the job ?

I've been very slack with MN lately but I've been sooooo busy revamping my Etsy shop and working on some new designs.

Agh ....
My sodding dh is screen sharing and he's sat next to me with his laptop reading what I am typing and controlling my cursor from his laptop.

Don't you just hate techy bods ...

Anyway, my store is now open again and I'm taking it more seriously with proper proper photo's for starters.
I was out in the garden this morning (in my PJ's) making the most of the good light and sunshine), camera in hand, pretending to be David Baily.

Here's my new stuff and a couple of old favourites

I'm off to Lambourn Open Day tomorrow so better get my sleep, got lots of walking to do from Racing Yard to Racing Yard.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 21/03/2008 00:33

lucykate your felted bag is on betz white's blog

meridian · 21/03/2008 09:26

I feel I need to get my hair cut with all this talk!.. well it does need a trim really as the ends are all ratty.. the logest my hiar has ever been was about the middle of my back close to my waist as a kid.. my hair is really thick and I used to come home from school everyday crying because my head hurt... my mother didn't know what to do with me and eventualy she got the scissors and chooped my hair off.. she used to be a hairdresser so its not that bad.. headaches were gone... the last time my hiar was below my shoulders must be about 6 or 7 years ago...

oh and you guys are a terrible influence! I was in Next clearence store at the outlet mall near here and there were a couple of skirts, one an orange colour with brown flowers, the other a lovely cream/white with lime green flowers and I thought they would make really lovely fabric...obviously they were fabric...

I suppose I best go entertain DS with easter activities... off to the coop in a minute to get some ingredients to make soem rockyroad... and probably some easter corflake nests... and I suppose eggs to do some hard boiled eggs to color and decorate... there is no way i'm letting DS blow out the eggs... there will be egg yolk everywhere and no its such a bad idea....

Nbg · 21/03/2008 14:13

Vintage, where on her blog? I've just been to look and couldn't see it.

Meri the skirts sound nice. Are you not tempted to wear them?

Well done on your job Ranting

Miaou, crafty notions sell nappies you know.

Tilly the photos have come out really well havent they.
I do love your new stuff. Its great.

I had planned a trip to the park today but the weather is yuck so its indoors watching Easter tv.

meridian · 21/03/2008 14:18

nbg- the skirts alas were about a size 10 so not in a million years i'm way too fat for that...

have made some rocky road which i'm rewritting a recipe for and made a garnet necklace with my fire mountain order and a rose shaped clasp form and etsy shop...

Nbg · 21/03/2008 14:22

Lovely necklace.

When you say Rocky Road, do you mean chocolate Rocky Road?

Miaou · 21/03/2008 14:26

nbg, it's just under the pics of the recycled sweaters - a link, not a photo.

I got my felting stuff last night and had a very productive session whilst watching The Talented Mr Ripley on tv (not seen it before). Amazingly I didn't stab myself but I came close a couple of times! I've added a couple of sheep to my design and they're a bit round, but otherwise it's coming together very well.

And ranting, Congrats on the job!!!

(and VV - and at the button - hope it is the crowning glory to a project!

meridian · 21/03/2008 14:52

nbg- yes chocolate rocky road.. just blogged it if you want a look...

vInTaGeVioLeT · 21/03/2008 14:56

hmmmmm...what to do with the mega---bucks "antique" button - probably just sit and admire it for a few days before losing it under a pile of highly nessacary vintage crap treasures!!!!!

meridian · 21/03/2008 15:09

vintage-- have you taken a picture of it? I want to see this bling button you could make a brooch out of it... or a the button of a nice notebook... necklace pendant?

vInTaGeVioLeT · 21/03/2008 15:31

i think it's destined to be a brooch - maybe the center of a large felted corsage - yes i've taken some photo's but they're not showing it at it's best!!!!
it's a very grey rainy day here - my dog is overdue her walk and driving me crazy so i'm going to get my wellies on and go for it.

Nbg · 21/03/2008 16:19

I'm going to look at the most expensive button ever

I've put a pic of the headband on my Blog

Dingle · 21/03/2008 17:25

Flying visit before I start unpacking boxes of "stuff" that have been up in the loft since before the extension was started!!! I might even find some of my fav ornaments if I am lucky!

I have made some inchies today. Hopefully I can put them onto a card later. I have really got into water colouring!!
